Well I've use the Finewoven Taupe case with my 15 Pro for 16 days. I've tossed it in bags with other stuff (pens etc.), I throw it on surfaces with rough plastic edges, in general I used it like any other case... and it has been perfect with no marks... UNTIL TODAY (I knew it was coming). I ate a sandwich that apparently was greasy from some butter that was put on it before it was grilled and must have had a touch on my hand so it left a dark mark across the bottom edge of the back, like it had gotten wet but the dark mark only faded to 50% as it dried. I used some paper towels with some soap to attempt to clean it off and I got about 95% of the mark removed so now it is very faint instead of very dark, but it appears the taupe color just above the mark got ever so slightly lighter from the rubbing. So now the top 80% of the case back is normal, then the bottom 20% is half slightly darker and half slightly lighter. I'll be honest, no one else would notice this right now (they would have noticed the original stain) but I see it and frankly it isn't a patina in the same way as leather wears its scars and color differences... it basically is just like a cloth napkin that had some ketchup on it and the washing machine only took out 95% of the stain so the ghost of it is still there. ugh. I knew it would happen but the case held up MUCH better than the initial reviews suggested... until it didn't. It's still fine, but after this I know it isn't for me. I'm ok being out the $60, I've certainly lost more to Apple since my original 1984 Macintosh... I just put on the Clay Silicone case.

my only gripe with the fine woven case is the potential for food stains. I went with pacific blue hoping that a darker color case wont show dirt and stains as easily as taupe, but time will tell.

My wallet is made of a woven material so I think I'll like these. My worry is that if I leave it on the table at a restaurant, the thing will soak up oil, liquid, whatever and leave gross stains.
Does anyone think spraying the FW case with Scotchguard would help protect it from dirt marks ?

Apple has great customer service, they have let me return/exchange stuff past the 14 day window. I’m sure you could get money back or at least exchange for a darker color.

Taupe Fw wallet has been fine after a week or two. Certainly treat it more carefully than my midnight leather aw. Leather is actually pretty easy to clean as long as you have the right products and is fairly resistant to oil/dirt.

I guess what I’m saying is if apple offered both leather and fine woven in the same colors I would pick leather (or vegan leather!) easily.

I had to sadly return my fine woven taupe. I wasn’t having issues with scratches or staining, but I just couldn’t stand the feel of the back when my hands were dry. Can’t explain it, but certain textures give my chills like carpet or rubbing my hands on jeans. The fabric on the back was like that, especially if my hands were dry at all. :(

I hate it because I loved the look of the taupe with natural titanium. On the hunt again for the perfect case….

My GF is the same. Just thinking at velvet or suede gives her the chills. Can’t touch it. Must be an evolutionary thing. She’s fine handling my fine woven case btw for some reason

I sprayed mine with Scotchguard fabric protectant, but I think it's mainly a water repellent rather than a stain repellent. I've been using the pacific blue FW case since launch day and it still looks good as new. However, I'm not sure if that's due to the Scotchguard, or due to how I handle my phone. I think the FW material is more durable and resistant to stains than what some youtuber's have led us to believe. If it is in fact it is the same material as my Patagonia jacket that I've owned for several years then I think it should stand up quite well to normal everyday use.

Just over 2 weeks with the FineWoven case & wallet. Here’s how it’s holding up:

EDIT: The faint green splodge that you see on the wallet on/above the apple logo is just due to image compression and the fact I took this pic with my iPad camera. In real life that's not there.

I'm going to put in my positive vote for the FineWoven case. For nearly five years I used a black Apple leather case with an Xs Max. When I first got the case it was so slippery that I ran over it a few times with very fine sandpaper. Eventually it "weathered" into the point where the grip was good. But it wasn't very protective. Several months ago I dropped the iPhone into the bathroom sink from a height of about one foot and the back glass cracked. But the case did keep the glass from falling out!

Plus over the years the leather "bled," for lack of a better term, on the bottom and back of a Belkin Qi charger. Not a big deal but hardly the indication of a quality leather product.

So when Apple announced the FineWoven case I was happy. From the description it sounded like it would have more grip than a new leather case--and it does.

It also offers good protection. I was getting gas the other day when I reached over to the console of my car and my iPhone fell out of my breast pocket, hit the seat and bounced out of the car hitting the concrete. No damage to the case or to the phone. Yesterday I got the case wet when hosing down my air filter. It dried fine. No water marks. Given enough time, however, there will probably be a mark showing the MagSafe charger connection, although one cannot see much after almost two weeks of use.

Finally, I like the FineWoven case so much that I ordered the companion Apple wallet.

Same here! I gave my leather wallet to my son and bought the fine woven wallet. My only negative on FineWoven is the slightly slippery sides but also have the silicone case to switch out.

Silicone picked up a bad name with me back with the original iPods. I think those cases were little more than reworked condoms. But then I realized both of my iPads have Apple silicone cases and they work great. So I could have gone with either Apple silicone on FineWoven. I picked the FW case purely on the fact I'd probably add the Apple wallet at some point, which I did.

The finewoven wallet really does attach very well to the finewoven case much better than to naked phone. Great combination the FW casenand wallet

Also, for those of us without a Natural Titanium iPhone, a FineWoven case is the only way to make the world know we dropped cash on the latest model 😬

So I had my first food incident with my fw case today when I accidentally grabbed my phone when eating dinner. I wiped the case off with a damp sponge and couple drops of dishing liquid and that did the trick. The (butter) stain is completely gone. Honestly, even if the stain were still visible I don't think it would bother me all that much. Eventually, I expect the fw case will continue to darken with age so other stains or marks will blend in with the case.
