iPhone 15 FineWoven cases - Pictures and impressions

I wasn't expecting much from the pictures on Apple.com and here, but my Taupe FineWoven arrived yesterday for the 15 Max. I am pleased with it. Looks way better in person. I usually go naked with my iPhones and have Apple Care+, so the case is only for vacation, gym, etc. and doesn't get used much. Only time will tell how it holds up to use. I like it, though.

It seems this is a hate thread but I actually quite like to black FW case i have. Obviously not used on the phone yet but it feels much nicer overall to me than the awful apple silicone cases. I am not a fan of leather so had hoped Apple would do an alternative that wasn’t silicone. FW seems a strange choice but I am sure it will be here to stay as they don’t tend to backtrack on things like this
It’s very odd isn’t it. I think we can all agree they will wear down, like all cases do.

Silicone peels and goes clammy and looks pretty poor eventually.
My Apple leather case, enough said. Looks awful.

The perspective that is getting lost in all the hate is we need to know how they will wear. Nobody can know that until they’ve been out in the wild and used for several months. Nothing can tell us that, not even ‘reviews’ by people who have owned them for a few days. I don‘t care if the material scratches. What I care about is how it will look in 6 months, after it’s been scratched 50 times, plus been rubbed against other materials and gained some dirt and hand oils. The idea of a case staying pristine makes no sense to me, it’s designed to take scuffs so your phone doesn’t.

Now, on the other hand if the case literally falls apart in 6 months and doesn’t protect the phone. That’s another story. The silicone and leather, despite aging badly, do stay together. But given there’s a watch strap made from this material too, you’d like to hope there is some physical robustness - otherwise there will be a lot of watches falling off wrists.

I’ll gladly report back in 6 months, to say if the case aged well (to me) or was my third strike for Apple cases.

Edit for typo.

Looking actually decent! Embargo lifted on reviews

I have the pacific blue one, I like it so far. I ordered the green at first and it was too dark. The blue is dark when it's not in direct light but pops when it's bright. I like the two-tone of these with a darker and slightly different weave on the edges compared to the back.

Just got the blue cause and it seems fine, but just pretty overpriced? Don't think it will age well as the bottom corners already seem a little lighter.
I ordered the Taupe and it was delivered last week, but the color seems kind of drab so I ordered Pacific Blue and it will be delivered tomorrow. I think the blue shows lint easier, but I'm concerned that the taupe color may pick up clothing dye.

My Evergreen FineWoven case for my iPhone 15 Pro preorder just arrived today (phone, of course, is still pending for 9/22). The case looks and feels very nice IMHO.

Hopefully it holds up. I could see the material getting snagged and tearing or subsequently coming undone, but only time will tell.

I get my taupe one tomorrow and will withhold judgement until then. I did want to point out that the Apple website makes it clear that the wallet and MagSafe puck WILL mark the case. They say if that’s disturbing to you then consider silicone instead.

No one has dumped some water or various other foods/liquids on a FW case yet and made a YT video? Maybe scratch it up a bit too. I bet the video would get some good hits for the next 2 days.

Meh. I prefer Apple silicone cases to leather, plus I have an iPhone 14 Pro. My backup phone, however, is a Google Pixel 5 and I absolutely LOVE the Pixel material cases.

If Apple is doing this to show "woke-ness," what a shame. Bunch of liberalpukeveganfloppydolphinsockpuppets.
If Apple actually thinks these cases are superior to leather, I'm interested. But will they eventually make them for older model iPhones?

These cases look worse than leather, now we have microplastic in our pockets and regarding the first reviews, is not scratch resistent and not very sturdy.

Yeah, Apples accessories really suck.

Yes I’m wondering if these fabric cases will soak up liquid. Given we all lay our phones down on a potentially dirty surface like a restaurant table. I usually get the Apple silicon case since I can use peroxide wipes on them without a problem. These probably not.

Mother Nature - "What about the leather cases?"
Tim Cook - "We are going to make crappy fake leather cases"
Father Stock Price - "What about the lost revenue from the premium cases"
Tim Cook - "Not to worry, we will charge the exact same amount!, Thou shalt pass on to the consumer!"

Am I just crazy in thinking that cases are used to keep the phone immaculate and not the case staying super clean?? You guys are anal about this case, you'll be putting a case on your case at this rate.

Relax, take a breath and let the case be a case. I loved the leather but that one too got scratched permanently or stained from use in my experience.

Relaxxxx

I think the case is fine. The silicon is garbage (peels and sticky in the pocket), the leather got worse through the years (gets black all over the edges), and this one I’m just not sure yet.

I’m willing to give this a try, but not sure how it will hold up long term, but I agree the purpose of a case is to protect the phone. Sounds like some people may need a case for their case lol
