Curved edges are astronomically superior in both aesthetics, and more importantly, ergonomics.

A human hand matches with rounded objects. That’s just the anatomical reality.

It’s why your steering wheel is rounded and not squared off.

Enjoy.
Aha aha, they are also astronomically inferior when it comes drops. But great comparison to a steering wheel. You know what else is rounded? A life saver! No more relation to an iPhone, than a steering wheel, but heck.

I knew someone was going to bring that up. The screen protector will work just fine. Especially if it’s the liquid ones. You apply that extra pressure onto the screen protector to the screen. You are solid!
Unfortunately screen protectors don't fully cover a curved screen. Only screen I ever shattered was that from my iPhone 6 — it had a protector on it, but the phone hit the ground with its corners — part that wasn't covered.

Getting harder and harder to hold our iPhones and iPads.

Would rather they target the camera bump than the bezels.
I totally agree. Samsung made the Galaxy s23 9ish mm thick and their camera bump is much more manageable. I would rather a slightly thicker iPhone and a smaller bump! Especially if it also meant a bigger battery!

I'd rather have an old car with a new engine than a new car with an old engine.
An engine, if well taken care of, can outlast almost every part on a car. I'd much rather have a new car, with all the tech, and safety features, being powered by an old engine.

And bananas have the exact number of edges to fit your hand creases.

🤯

The design change sounds like extra manufacturing expense and a headline feature, so it’ll probably be held to the line-topper, which is rumored to be using the Ultra moniker… which would mean iPhone Ultra looks like the “regular” Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Ultra looks like the “regular” iPhone. Ahhh, should be fun for the sales staff.

I have a tip for you:

Stop using piece of trash screen protectors. They feel like ****, they look like ****, and they scratch 10 times easier than the glass on your insanely expensive device utilizing some of the best engineered glass on the planet.
This is just not true. At least on the iPhone 14 Pro series, the bare screen scratches quite easily and that's been well documented. Not all screen protectors are trash. For example, the Spigen versions are edge to edge and there are no bubbles at all. Since we have the dynamic island now and the speaker pushed higher there isn't even a cut out for the front facing camera -- so for the first time there is not cutout on the protector. You can't tell its on.

If the screen curves at the edges then the protector can only be on the flat portion, which will indeed look like trash again. Despite the marketing you get from Apple, their screens are no more scratch proof than phones made 10 years ago. Just watch Jerry Rig Everything on YouTube for that.

The thin bezels on the Samsung Galaxy 23 are actually a lie because they 3D curve down at the very end making them appear thinner than they actually are

Glass screen protectors are excellent, and they can be easily replaced if they get scratched.

I do hope we’re not going to get pages and pages like last time of people thinking this means curved sides like the 6-11 series.

Curved bezels

It wouldn't make much sense from a design perspective to have a curved bezel end abruptly at a straight metal side. Apple would never have something so inconsistent like that.

Jajaja this is actually so true! All my friends use a screen protector, that looks like it survived WW3 to protect the screen cuz they are too cheap to replace that scratched up bubbly mess occasionally 😅 only to replace the Phone 2+ years later anyway, never seeing the proper screen ever again

Agreed! An Edge-to-Edge display from Apple Watch 7 would be ideal for the upcoming iPhone 15. Just looks more exclusive and premium.

A unique refractive edge will make the iPhone full-screen and appear seamlessly connect with the curvature of the case. I miss the Edge-to-Edge screen on Apple Watch.

Although I appreciate the work Apple has done, I’ve always found these images to be a bit disingenuous at best and downright deceptive at worst. The text on the Apple Watch isn’t anywhere near as close to the edge as these PR images indicate.

I’m all for the curved edges. I thought I wanted the square edges until I purchased an iPhone SE (2022). Rounded edges are so much more pleasant. They don’t dig into your skin and they make the edge swipe gestures much more comfortable.

Interesting to see how this evolves. I am on 13 PM, will most likely upgrade IPhone 17 or may be 16. Hopefully Apple can tweak things if 15 does come with ultra thin Bezels.
