What is the point of waking up early to spend $2,000 on a new phone when the Apple Store app keeps crashing for an HOUR and it’s SOLD OUT by the time it finally works?

Apple, you are a trillion dollar company. FIX YOUR PRE-ORDERS.

It’s been like this every year for the last several years.

I’m deleting worthless Apple Store App. I suggest using the web store instead.
The problem was worse on the website, personally. I just gave up and now I'm going to wait it out for another month in hopes of better carrier deals.

Millions of people hitting the server at the same time...it was bound to happen. I got mine from AT&T which I'm sure had less orders and it was smooth sailing.

I decided to order from Verizon's site as I was concerned I couldn't pre-pre order to get the Verizon trade in discount. I did two Verizon orders back to back at 8am Eastern with 0 issues. Ordered my wife's pro max first as I figured that would slip first, then I ordered my Pro. It says i'm getting the phones on launch day so I guess we'll see....
Verizon has been rock solid for me for quite a few years. (I usually complete the order a few minutes before launch) This is the first time using Apple and as reported, nothing would load for 25 minutes.

I usually just go through VZW but opted to buy outright from Apple this time due to the VZW promo being 3 years instead of 2.

Once I finally got through the store crashes and trade-in errors with a black 128 Pro, my cart and immediate order confirmation still had release day delivery. Then the email and order status changed to 10/2 🙄

I wish I could upgrade through my carrier but I can’t because I am on an old grandfathered plan. 3 phone lines, unlimited data with hotspot and tethering of 50GB, plus airplane Wi-Fi, international stuff. And 2 cellular watches for $120 all taxes and fees included. No overuse charges either. Truly unlimited data. If I get phones through them I have to change plans.

I’m stuck with the Apple Store online and paying outright or monthly to Apple.

Got mine for launch day (1TB Blue Pro Max), 25 minutes after opening.

My dad got in 5 minutes before me and his (512GB Natural Pro Max) was already back ordered two weeks.

Australia.
Got my 15 pro max, 1TB, natural color, for pickup on September 22, 2023 with no problem around 5:30 AM

I didn't get in until 15 min past the hour and was bumped to 10/2 delivery. What was really frustrating is I was able to get in at about 2 minutes after the start, but when i tried to complete my pre-order I got a message that my pre-order was canceled due to some issue so i had to resubmit the order even though I already went thru all the checking and validation on Monday. This is the first time I've ever had my pre-order cancel out on me.

Apple can/should do better.

Finally got my two 15 pro 256MB at about 5:30AM PACIFIC -- after dealing with Apple Store app crashes, delays, pre-order cancellations, and more for half an hour -- September 22 home delivery.

Yeah I wanted to use my Apple Card this time, and did not want to go through Verizon again, because their ‘deal’ requires a 3 year contract which I don’t want. It cost me a launch day delivery (well, Apple’s website crashing as well) but waiting a few additional weeks for a phone I don’t actually need isn’t the worst thing. I deal with people in the hospital who have actual problems which keeps things in perspective.

Can’t remember the last time the apple store crashed like this. Wonder if that means interest in the new phones or will be greater than most analysts predicted

Also. If i wanted to order something on a website that would crash i would get Taylor Swift tickets

LOL

I was “pre order ready” and got error messages for 15 minutes after the store went live. My order didn’t pull and go through until 8:25am. You’d think aver doing this for over a decade the process would be smooth for everyone.

AT&T opened their app orders at least 26 minutes early because the order submission button was live as soon as I got on.
Order #: 23-69620333526XXXX
Ordered on: September 15, 2023 at 7:34 a.m. ET

Took an hour to get two preorders completed. Used three different devices to make it happen. I was stuck on the splash page for 40 minutes on all devices.

So my
Phones will come in October

I spent ages trying to pre-pre-order using the Apple Store App yesterday, but no matter which one I tried it kept declining mine (and my brothers) cards... I went to the Apple website in Safari and it went through and accepted my original card straight away.
Then at 1pm (actually about 1:10pm today once the maintenance screen disappeared) I was able to finish pre-ordering the blue 15 Pro Max and will be getting it next Friday!

Sure, not like they didn't expect it and could have accounted for it.
How would they account for it? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't know what you could do. You can't rent extra bandwidth and infrastructure once a year, can you? Why would any company pay for once-a-year network hammering by upgrading their whole system when the other 364 days it all works swimmingly? To me that wouldn't make fiscal sense...

I plead ignorance to the details of it all, but that's how I've always seen it. If I were happy driving my Honda Fit all year, I wouldn't buy a Rivian just to haul a load once a year.

They are also a company worth 3 TRILLION dollars. I'm guessing you have a bit less than that. If anyone can afford to "buy" some extra bandwidth for a day, week, etc. then it would be Apple. A company with this much experience (10+ years) of selling iPhones should ensure their loyal customer base have a seamless experience while buying online. It is inexcusable not to.

They are experiencing delays in shipment up to 8 weeks before noon with preorders. What difference would have extra bandwidth made? Or are you just mad that it caused inconvenience to you?

Whatever phone you were trying to get did not go to “waste” as someone else got the phone at the earlier ship date

It would make zero sense to get more bandwidth or whatever if the end result within hrs was achieved extra bandwidth or not

First time ordering a launch day phone from Apple, what a rollercoaster ride. Glad to have a 15 pro Natural Titanium 256gb arriving the 22nd.
