What is the point of waking up early to spend $2,000 on a new phone when the Apple Store app keeps crashing for an HOUR and it’s SOLD OUT by the time it finally works?

Apple, you are a trillion dollar company. FIX YOUR PRE-ORDERS.

It’s been like this every year for the last several years.

I’m deleting worthless Apple Store App. I suggest using the web store instead.
Exactly they obviously don't have the most proproservers ever.

horrible experience this year, usually takes 2 minutes to upgrade...site down for 25 minutes, when finally went live my prepared order was gone, had to do the whole order process again...thought I was definitively going to get it in at least October...went with Blue 15 Pro Max, and it still gave me the launch day as delivery, got very lucky

Do share…
Have tried cache clearing in the past (if that's what you mean) with no luck. For what it's worth, I tried on my "work phone" after 20 mins, and still got store busy. Hadn't touched it on that previously.
I still wonder if there was a queueing system done by IP address maybe. Someone mentioned they opened the browser last night and left it until today and got straight in.

Demand this high? How does it compare to previous years? 14 Pro Max only slipped to October as far as I remember during the pre-order to release period.
All we can know for sure is Backorder = Demand > Supply, but that could mean they made 10k and 11k orders were placed ot they made 50M and 51M orders were placed

I managed to get a 15PM 256 Blue for release day store pickup and a 15 Plus 128 Blue for release day delivery for my wife.

Sure but for many (including myself) the store wasn't available until after 1:30pm.

Pretty obvious hidden queuing system in place, especially since all my devices (browser and app) "starting working" at the same time, when others were saying the browser option was available at 10 past.

Tis what it is, I guess their web server was managing loads, better than errors. The real failure was once in, the number of "error occurred" messages that were coming up, and the buttons etc froze which meant you had to start all over again, ie. the server still couldn't handle it even with the queueing.
I don't know what country you're in to put that time into context, but the store did open about 20 minutes late. It was glitchy and wouldn't allow checkouts or even access in some circumstances. So you may have only been 10 minutes late in the big scheme of things.

Oddly enough, this is the first time my order went through without a hitch. My pre-pre-order came up on the web at 5:04am, and I just clicked through and boom, done, delivery on the 22nd. Every prior launch there were spinning beachballs etc. but today was totally fine.

I decided to order from Verizon's site as I was concerned I couldn't pre-pre order to get the Verizon trade in discount. I did two Verizon orders back to back at 8am Eastern with 0 issues. Ordered my wife's pro max first as I figured that would slip first, then I ordered my Pro. It says i'm getting the phones on launch day so I guess we'll see....

Yes, just ordered from AT&T, and the estimated ship date is Sept 21. I'm sure about the estimated delivery date, but after seeing the estimate from Apple, I've very pleased. I've bought through AT&T several time before when this has happened. Never had an issue. Yeah, it's "cool" to buy directly from Apple, but I'll take my iPhones from wherever I can get them.

Very excited to upgrade from my XS Max!

I wonder if it is at all likely that my October 9-16th shipping date forward? This is my first experience ordering directly from app online I usually go to my provider or the Apple Store in person. Just want to get an idea if it’s an all realistic that my shipping date will move forward?

Clearly the Natural titanium color is the most popular. I had my order set for a 15 Pro Max 1T in Natural Titanium and my wife's set up for the same phone in blue. We didn't wake up until 0700 Pacific time and I placed both orders. Mine ships first week of November hers the first week of October.

When my app said "Session expired", I skipped a heartbeat. Had to redo whole process and still secured a natural PM 256 for the 22nd.

My arrives around 5 days after launch day. I'm not too bothered TBH. Don't really care whether it comes on launch day or a week or two after - makes no difference to me.

I’m opening my browser now for the iPhone 16 Pro Max Ultra Super Duper 5TB Organic Natural Iridescent Adamantium next year !
