Yeah it was rough. I was ready at 8am eastern but couldn’t actually get into my bag until 8:20, by then the pro max was 2-4 weeks out. Grrrrr

I ordered a Blue Pro with 1TB and the process was totally smooth. Completed the order within a minute of the store opening. Pickup at 8 am on the 22nd. After I completed my order, I ordered my wife’s phone (Blue Pro 512GB), and her order also took all of about a minute to complete. She got an 8:15 am pickup slot on the 22nd. Used Safari on my laptop to do the ordering.

As someone who had a 14 Pro that was supposed to arrive on release day last year, only to have it "disappear" in the UPS system after "signed delivery" (creating a 3 week delay for the replacement) I feel your concern. It's a roll of the dice.

The punch line is I had it delivered to an actual UPS store, where my business keeps a mailbox. Obviously stolen by the driver or (less likely) the store staff.

Apple had my back, it cost me nothing but time, but yes, I get it.
Kind of similar, I paid extra to have my iPhone 14 Pro held for pickup last year at a UPS Customer Center, and my tracking status on launch day said that someone with a name that was not my name picked up my order.

I thought for sure my phone got stolen at the facility. Luckily, it ended up being there, and I picked it up with no issues, but I was in full-on panic mode for an hour. Delivery really stresses me out. I’ll always do Apple Store pickup as long as I don’t have issues trying to do it like I did last year.

A buddy of mine and I weren't able to process until 08:18 EST. He was trying through Apple, and I was trying through AT&T. His went through at 08:18 and mine at 08:19 after a refresh. We both got launch day delivery for Pro Max models in our desired configurations. The Best Buy store still wasn't up at that time. I think this was more of an issue of a late start than it was pressures on the system.

Looks like Apple should have included a 2TB model seeing how even the 1TB is also delayed by 2 months. Might have actually considered going for the 2TB instead then if it would reduce the wait time.

I pray to Q that everyone gets their phone sooner than expected 🥰🖖

Demand this high? How does it compare to previous years? 14 Pro Max only slipped to October as far as I remember during the pre-order to release period.
In the event, didn't they say they were changing a lot of shipping to be via ship instead of air as part of their eco changes? I wonder if that's partly why dates are slipping farther out this early - it certainly takes a lot longer to cross the ocean via ship instead of air.

Sure Apple.

What they did with round of iPhones is actually not manufacture as many as in the past.

Now MacRumors won’t have to post the inevitable article noting that iPhone demand is lower than anticipated and the manufacturers will slow production.

What color did you get? I picked natural titanium at 256GB. maybe that was the most demanded option

I did the preorder ready form from Apple two days ago so when preorders opened up at 7 AM CDT I just did a few clicks with my mouse and voila, the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB natural titanium will be delivered next Friday. If you snooze, you lose and I'm afraid not everybody took Apple's advice on this and didn't log in when they started taking preorders and waited too long. I can't believe they are quoting a November delivery date now for the Pro Max.
I guess I misspoke as many DID try to log in at 5 am PDT and could not. I logged in last night and kept my browser open all night on Apple.com so I just did a refresh when sales opened and got right into my preorder form which just required a few clicks to complete the purchase. I was done in maybe 30 seconds.

Was not expecting that much demand this year. Can’t recall by 8 am in any year past the time extending into a 2nd month.

Ah yes the Apple tactic we only made a few thousands for launch day 😂 make the supply lower than the demand and make people want it more
I don’t think any business has really done this ever. PS5 lived through a real shortage and it has probably damaged that generation permanently. Seeing your friend have a new thing is more powerful than not being able to get a thing. Apple gets on the news either way.

there is a big wave of us on iPhone 12 whose 36 months were up earlier this year in April or May, so the 36 months definitely sucks and it was tough to sit out the 13 and 14, but worth the wait.

Interesting, I wasn't sure when they moved from the 24 month cycle to the 36 month cycle.

You snooze you lose. I'm no celebrity but I was at the ready. I had no issues once the store finally decided to work.
Sure but for many (including myself) the store wasn't available until after 1:30pm.

Pretty obvious hidden queuing system in place, especially since all my devices (browser and app) "starting working" at the same time, when others were saying the browser option was available at 10 past.

Tis what it is, I guess their web server was managing loads, better than errors. The real failure was once in, the number of "error occurred" messages that were coming up, and the buttons etc froze which meant you had to start all over again, ie. the server still couldn't handle it even with the queueing.

Because I want to try to roll in my taxes to my upgrade program this year (which you can allegedly do with an in store purchase), for the first time in years I didn't preorder on launch day online.
I'm betting on them having stock available for walk ins next week... but with this much delays, I'm now wondering if the chances of that are slim. Guess I'll find out by next Friday; I'll have to keep an eye on my local stores reservations so I can do a shopping reservation early next Friday :)
Otherwise, I may have a loooong wait this year to upgrade (which, first world problems... but I'll survive)

If over a million people are hitting your server simultaneously, I don't care if you're the NSA, I expect a few spinning wheels. All that "green effort" Apple is putting in would more than be wiped out if they actually scaled everything to handle that kind of once a year traffic.

Apple store app kept saying error from 5 to 5:20 PDT. I then used laptop, Apple store page was still saying open soon, at 5:27 the Apple store "opened" on the laptop and although the pre order did not work, a regular order went thur with a few clicks. Pro Max, Blue Titanium, 1tb delivery 9/22
