Sorry… 13 Pro Max
The 13 Pro Max didn’t need it, with a 12MP camera and 4K video the files aren’t that large, but mine has 1TB of storage. The 15 Pro Max with a 48MP camera and 8K video are going to need extra space, hopefully 2TB. People here have stated their 14 Pros are running out of room on a 1TB device. [🏃‍♂️]

I have 90GB left on my 13 Pro 256GB, IDK whether to get 512GB on the 15 Pro just to be safe.
I think as long as you’re not planning to create videos or do much photography that should be fine. If you have a lot of photos & videos, the iPhone 15 will likely take up 4 x the space you currently have for those. Of the 166GB you use, how much are photos & video?

Wow that wait between 2011 and 2014 to finally go from 64GB to 128GB was rough.

I took a pretty big trip in the 64GB era and in the process of preparing for that, I deleted practically every photo and video I had off my phone by that point.

Yes, after backing them up to my PC of course, but still, once they are deleted from your camera roll they cannot go back from whence they came.
As such my camera roll only starts in late 2012 despite the fact that I’ve been using an iPhone since launch day in June 2007.

That small amount of data from the first 5 years of iPhone could EASILY fit on my phone now and never would have had to go if the 128GB option came a couple of years sooner!

My 14 pro max has 1tb of storage which I can't possibly fill I will be dropping down to the 256 15 pro max hopefully my yearly upgrade I won't get dinged to bad for the trade in 👍
And here lies the problem. One never gets "more' trade in value for higher storage devices from Apple or the other carriers in the USA. Yet one pays for it through the nose when buying it.

My last several iPhones have been 256GB as I don't need more space than that but what I'm seeing from this news is that 256GB is gonna be the new base on the Pro models and while that might be a cheaper price to start off with compared to previous 256GB models, it also means more than likely that that storage will be slower than 512GB and up.

Now, these modern day iPhones are so fast that I might not even notice but just the fact that Apple will gimp the base model storage speeds like they do everything else will probably make me want to spend more money and get the next tier up even though I don't need that much space or necessarily want it but it'll always be in the back of my mind that I settled on the base version which will be slower than what I could have had if I didn't.

This is Apple's strategy.

This is true with Apple in the U.S. yet in other countries, including up north in Canada, Apple does vary trade in value by storage size. The price differences aren’t necessarily that significant, however.

Also, at least some U.S. carriers do offer differing trade-in values based on storage size.
