Hey Apple, do a trade-in program for all lightning cables to convert them into USB-C cables.

Then you can safely recycle all those lightning cables instead of people tossing them in the trash.

It'd avoid a lot of e-waste since you "care about the environment" so much!

What's that? No, cause it'd cut into your profits?

Oh yeah, the real thing you care about.
And they should care more about profit, than e-waste.

Besides the current iPhones and 9th Gen iPad, aren't the only Apple products left with Lightning are the AirPods, EarPods, and the 1st Gen Pencil?

USB-C Connector
Better Cameras
8GB RAM
A17 Bionic

Yes and the mac accessories. We should get mac accessories with the Mac Pro. Then we all know iPhone is coming next fall. AirPods probably at the same time.

So if this information is correct, and as always we will see ( they don’t call it a rumor for nothing) it sounds like the EU May have done me a favor. Apple wants to get rid of the lightning port, and to replace it with….nothing. I hate that idea. So if this all turns out to be like expected here, we will get a USB-C port. Now I have no problem if they just left it alone and left the lightning port on. I have lots of equipment to charge with that. And if they go to the USB port, that’s fine too. I will happily buy the correct cables. Because the very last thing I want, is to only be able to charge wirelessly.

I tend to keep phones for two or three years but I would make an exception for that level of zoom on the cameras. The only thing that I miss about my old Samsung phone is the level of zoom that the cameras had.

All sounds great.

USB-C is a must. More optical zoom is always welcomed.

My personal wish is getting back to iPhone 6-11 styled curved sides. While I liked the masonary brick edge on the 4 and 5, never liked the feel on my 13 pro.

It would be very unusual for Apple to go from 6GB -> 8GB so quickly. I could see 8GB being something that goes into the iPhone 16 or 17.

You know Apple, they love dragging these sorts of upgrades (especially ones that cost them more in the bill of materials) out.
While this is the first time 6 GB has been in the base iPhones, the Pros have had 6 GB since the 12 Pro, so it's not at all unusual to bump it up after 3 generations. Base iPhone 15 will most likely stay at 6 GB.

iPhone 15 Pro models will feature an increased 8GB of RAM, a USB-C port, and multiple camera improvements, according to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce.

In a press release today, TrendForce indicates that the iPhone 15 lineup will again consist of four models and that only the two Pro models will get Apple's latest processor, as was the case with the iPhone 14 lineup. Users can expect the Pro models to be equipped with the A17 Bionic chip, while the standard models would stick with the A16.

TrendForce predicts that the 15 Pro models will be equipped with an increased 8GB of RAM to complement the A17 chip, compared to 6GB for the iPhone 14 Pro models. The standard models will likely continue to have 6GB of RAM.

The switch from Lightning to USB-C has been widely rumored for iPhones as the European Union passed a law requiring such a change earlier this year.

In line with previous reports, the research firm expects the iPhone 15 Pro Max to feature a Telephoto lens with periscope functionality, allowing for 10x optical zoom or higher, compared to the current 3x limitation. The Pro models should have an upgraded Main lens with an "8P" design, which would be one extra optical element for better camera performance.

TrendForce says iPhone 15 models will remain equipped with a Qualcomm modem for 5G because Apple is not yet satisfied with the mmWave performance of its in-house modem. The research firm believes Apple will introduce its own 5G modem in 2024.

Apple will likely announce the iPhone 15 lineup in September 2023.

Eventually Apple is just gonna have to make people more angry then they already are. I don't think the new 10th gen iPad is gonna get to iOS 21. 4gb Ram is gonna be a bottleneck sooner rather than later.
Apple is still supporting devices with 2 GB of RAM with iPadOS 16. I suspect the entry level iPads will still receive 5 years of support with the latest software, they just won't receive all the features. 4 GB is still lots for what the average person does with an iPad.

Why not give the Pro the mystical M chip. We are clearly willing to pay whatever Apple is willing to charge for the iPhone Pro Max, so why not just put the M chip in there alongside the A chip, turn the iPhone Pro into an engineering marvel. Give it an ultra high speed camera to take advantage of the processing power, we'll take out loans to buy it if we had to.
The M chips are souped up versions of the A chips that are a lot more power hungry relatively. They can't be used in a phone.

iOS 16 still supports devices with 2GB RAM.
