Why does no one call out apple for having thicker bezels on their non pro products? It’s such a tacky way to make something look less premium
I personally think the bezel size on the X/XS/11 Pro was perfect. Just enough to still grip without touching things on the screen but thin enough to feel full-screen. The 12/13/14 is just a touchhhh to thin but still easy to grip, any thinner or curved and I’ll be accidentally touching stuff all day like with my stupid Samsung. And no, I’m not putting a case on it.

The curved corners are still horrible. A display should always be rectangular, because most content is rectangular. A curved corner throws away pixels. That strange idea came many years ago, when some smartphone makers were proud that they can built displays that are not rectangular. The result are rounded corners, nodges, circular holes and "dynamic islands". Is it too much to ask that every row of a display has the same number of pixels?
Such a bad bad thought here.

The best smartphone design has rounded corners and the display fills all of the front. Your idea that it loses pixels is nonsensical. It actually loses pixels by not going into curved corners. And if you don’t use curved corners then you have an INSANELY uncomfortable device with sharp corners that dig into your hand.

Terrible idea on your behalf.

Moreover, the devices should have rounded edges like the iPhone X which was the epitome of smartphone design in both beauty and ergonomics.

A human hand is ergonomically rounded. It’s why intelligent humans made door knobs rounded, a steering wheel rounded, a broom handle rounded, and anything else you can think of.

I don't understand why people care what the iPhone looks like. I almost never see people without cases or protectors of some type on their phones. For all I care the iPhone 15 could be Bieber-themed and I'd still buy it.
I don’t use a case and therefore I can tell you that both the look, and the feel, and the GRIP are all VERY important.

When Apple moronically went to the matte glass the back of the iPhone became far far more slippery. Smooth glass is grippy, matte glass is slippery as fk. That was incredibly stupid.

It was also incredibly stupid switching to square edges from the seamless and ergonomic rounded edges. The devices felt far more comfortable in the hand with rounded edges (obviously).

If they switch to matte bands I’ll die laughing for their stupidity. That absolute MORON MKPHD has stupidly said he wants matte edges. I don’t know why that man is so incredibly stupid but matte = slippery. You need GRIP in the material design.

All these incredibly incredibly stupid humans complain about smudges and scratches but they put their phone in a case…… how could they possibly be that stupid?

This is a misguided thought and I’ll explain why:

The best smartphone design is the future design where they take the display all the way to the metal edges of the phone. The metal edges of the phone should of course be rounded for ergonomics and beauty.

Now, the reason you take the display all the way to the metal is because it looks far more immersive in doing so. What do you do to solve the issue you bring up about accidental touches? That’s simple: you have the last 1/8” of the display not register touch. This way you get the immersion of the extra display, but you cannot accidentally register any touches on it.

Most aspects of the UX already start in the display about 1/16-1/8”. What will happen is you’ll simply keep touch elements from falling on the outermost edge, and draw into it for the immersion. Pushing the display into the rounded corners was similarly almost entirely for immersion.

Why do we give any attention to this account? At this point any guy creating a Twitter account can pretend to be a reliable Apple leaker
Because when you post things months and months in advance and they turn out to be true then you begin to build a rapport of accurately stating Apple’s (or another company’s), upcoming products.

You personally haven’t followed this, but others have, hence why they trust his statements.

You personally think it’s just some random account that takes guesses, when of course it’s not some random account, it’s a human being who has sources within engineering or the supply chain.

Sorry, but to not believe that these accounts have these sources is just to be a conspiracy theorist. They ‘guess’ intricate details and turn out to be correct. You only ‘guess’ that if you have sources telling you facts based on empirical evidence.

The hilarious irony here is that you’re on a website called ‘Macrumors’ which has one major purpose: post reports from leakers on Apple’s upcoming products. If there were never any leakers this site wouldn’t exist with this name.

I will never buy a phone with the block shape they have had on last two pros, I hate it with a passion. So this sounds like good news for me. Time to replace the 11, the best phone/mini computer I ever had that had a battery that would go on and on and on and on and on. Until two weeks ago when I finally gave in and installed the new OS. Now the battery is poor. It's not a myth about the updates screwing the battery life. It's doing nothing better that the last OS either so I'm.. well I am ranting aren't I? Oh yea the bezels and curve shape coming back - bring it on!

just go back to a plastic back and aluminum frame TBH the iPhone is way too heavy nowadays. I literally had a cyst removed on my wrist because I was using this heavy phone for too much 😅
Aluminum sides are extremely slippery and they should absolutely never go back to it.

If you want a lighter phone get the non-pros and they have aluminum sides.

You absolutely did NOT get a ‘cyst’ on your wrist from using a ‘heavy’ phone. That’s comical you think that

Excellent points.

Are you ok??? You could get full glass screen protectors with the old phones that had curved screens.
Yes but the glass lifts off at the edges because the glass of the display curves instead of runs straight into the edges of the metal frame.

Some people here seem to be confusing the rounded metal frame with the current flat frame.

I do prefer the rounded metal frame because it is more comfortable to hold and fits into cases better. But I would prefer the round metal frame to frame completely flat glass displays. Glass screen protectors do fit better and seamlessly to flat glass displays.

With curved glass displays the screen protector has to end where the glass starts to curve away from the flat plane. That leaves gaps in protection and leaves room for lint and dust to accumulate.

If this rumor is true, I'm glad I got my 14 Pro Max in a 1 TB version and in a color I love. I think I'll hold onto it.

I have an iphone 11 and hate the edge on it. And I have an S22 Ultra and really hate the curve on that. I can only really use a flim protector on it. Nothing else sticks quite right.

Apple ripping off Samsung as usual with just enough modifications to make it seem like it isn't a full blown copy. Curved screens do look futuristic and it's immensely satisfying using gesture navigation on curved displays.
The rumor specifically says that the screen will not be curved.
