Samsungs fold 3 inner display camera isn’t anywhere near as good or hidden as the Zte axon 30’s. I’d say Apple should wait and not do a punch hole at all. If you didn’t know in the iPhone 13 phones the reduced notch no longer has the ambient light sensor inside it they put it under the display. Alongside the proximity sensor if I’m not mistaken.

I’m finding this hard to believe. So they are gonna do hole punch this year with pill then switch to under display a year later? Like seriously? Considering the Notch is 5 years old, does that sound like typical Apple. Also take into account they just switched the MacBook Pro camera system to a Notch like design.

That tells me they are doubling down on the notch, not straying from it.

Makes me think the pill/ hole punch display rumor is bogus. Why not leave the notch untouched for another year then completely get rid of it on the iPhone 15 Pro's?
It could go either way.
And it's not uncommon for Apple to change something just for one generation, and later switch to a redesign completely. Eg. 10.5" ipad Pro. It's just a one off, and next ipad Pro was a complete redesign.

It's a balancing act between the readiness of the tech/design, will it be able to be produced in volume, and trickling improvements to encourage people to buy newer stuff.

we heard about this and no ports for charging for a long time..for iphone 13 for iphone 14, now we go for iphone 15
Hey maybe someday they will get it right..i would say until iphone 20 we will get under display faceid and no more lightning and i will be 100% accurate

I guess there won't be any but Samsung heard the rumors too and after these years they bet on developing one so this time maybe the copy could be sold before the real one 🤣

Same rumours that never materialise…
…Until they eventually do materialize.

I think some rumors are just so far in advance, it doesn’t make sense to understand where Apple is in their timeline of advancements in the future. I mean, there’s nothing not indicating that concealing face ID under the display isn’t a possibility, just no one knows the timeline of when that will actually happen, but it seems inevitable at some point as the iPhone continues to mature. It’s not like this is totally unbelievable, the question is, when does it actually happen.

My Apple Sources told mr thar the iPhone 20 will be thinner and smaller again. Weight is said to be only 140g.

Maybe I‘ll wait 🤔

When members say this, I always like to ask, then what do you think that Apple should be doing that should be innovating more? Try to be specific with your answer.
I say this as someone who buys the new Pro Max every year, I can’t believe it is taking them this long to:
- create a properly edge-to-edge screen
- remove the notch
- flatten the camera bumps
- integrate Touch ID (less needed now Face ID works better with masks, they missed the boat on this one)
- experiment with flexible displays

Sure, their chip improvements are very impressive but everything else feels stagnant. The only other exciting change since the XS Max has been ProMotion.

It’s a sorry state of affairs when loosing a notch seems as the pinnacle of innovation. Just face it, phones won’t improve much for a few years it looks like

Ross Young is confident there won't be under the screen Face ID next year.

I'd rather trust him, than those Korean blogs, who make up stories just to bump up stocks of display companies.

Apple didn't used to be afraid of putting out a better quality but older looking or slower product. That's still true to an extent (not on speed, but being more conservative with form factors), but they've really let software development slide.
It's not all bad news. They're still not afraid to release phones that are noticeably poorer at picking up a weak phone/3G/4G signal than the most average Android.
