12 mini user here. I've still haven't found a compelling reason to upgrade. Funny thing is, Apple decided to remove the mini from the lineup due to poor sales, but the 15 Plus is a bust. No one wants it. Hopefully they'll learn the lesson and bring back the mini.

I don't need any of the Pro features tbh.

Aren't Apple's M1/2 chips based on these A# chips? If so, I'd like to see support for more & higher resolution external displays. At least on M# chips, bring back support for eGPUs as well.

If Apple devices are going to use a USB-C connector, give it at least USB 3 support, if not USB 4 or ThunderBolt. According to the 10th gen iPad specs, it still uses USB 2, which is pathetic nowadays.

Also like to see support for PCIe 5, if not 6 now that it's fully released. If Intel plays along, wouldn't mind seeing ThunderBolt 5 with vastly increased speeds. Thunderbolt 4 uses what, PCIe 3? Going to 5 could see 4x speed increase, and 6 can see 8x. Plus, I'd love to see (but know will never happen) iPad Pros and Macs come with M.2 slots for additional storage. Maybe SD express or something if you want smaller & lighter.

My conspiracy theory is that if the battery lasts too long then you wont need to buy as many other chargers, especially the overpriced under capacity magsafe powerbank.
But you can get a 20 watt USB-C charger for almost "peanuts" nowadays....

(EDIT: Apple's own 20 W charger and the well-liked Anker 511 Nano Pro sell for US$17 on Amazon in the USA nowadays.)

I'm good. I don't feel the need to upgrade unless the camera is significantly better than the current iPhone.

i bet there are still a lot of people with some old iPhone SE/7/8 out there
Doesn't matter.
Lots of people aren't like you, Apple diehards/fanpeople or tech heads like here in the forums.
Many will get a battery replacement to continue using their iPhones which works for them and don't care about how other people say or think.
When those older iPhone owners contemplate upgrading, the higher cost of the iPhones may be a turn off for many of them so they may not even consider a newer iPhone.
Some may even consider upgrading to a used slightly newer iPhone model like the 11/12/13.
Not everyone wants or needs the latest greatest features in the newer iPhone models or can afford them.

The 14 plus is a bust because they made the 14 line way to similar to the iphone 13 line... Nothing compelling to make people upgrade or not choose the reduced iphone 13 instead. Has nothing to do with the size.

How fast do we need to go with an iPhone? Look, until Apple brings out an iPhone product that is groundbreaking and different, I will stay with my current iPhone 14 pro max.

They are so fast already, even back to the iPhone 11 Pro that I dont think it will make any difference for anyone but the 1%.

I mean I dont struggle with mine at all for anything I would do on a phone anyway. Mobile games aren't great and are designed for subscription models rather than pure enjoyment so that won't be a draw either.

Silly headline. Who has a 15 Pro (or 12 Pro) and thinks this is just too slow?

The only ever upgrade that has been shown to encourage people to move up after a year is a significant design leap (USB C might actually), massive camera improvements or battery performance. If there is a trade off of speed vs efficiency for 3nm then for the phone pushing battery length makes the most sense. Leave the power for the M line.

They won’t, but Apple should be aiming to double the battery efficiency.

Going from 12 Pro to 15 Pro Max. I will get 120hz, DI, C port and better battery. Good enough for me. Better camera is a bonus

I'm upgrading to either the 15 Pro or Pro Max pretty much no matter what design comes out this year.
My X battery is starting to show along with I want some of that 5G goodness that's around here that I can be using.

Long overdue for USB-C and all it took was a government mandate. Absolutely embarrassing it took this long for Apple to pull it's head out of it's ass.
Absolutely! But didn't i read that Apple limited lightning to usb2 speeds? I wonder what they'll do to USB-c?

I upgraded from 13 Pro Max to a 14 for one feature, the satellite sos and location addition. With well timed trade in values, promotions, no interest the cost is worth it. What's described so far about the 15, don't care about USB-C, hasn't blown my skirt up yet

Nobody [gross majority] is thinking their phone is slow anymore to trigger a mass upgrade.
I don't think it is a feeling of the phone being "slow" so much as an awareness that the phone in hand is getting pretty long in the tooth and therefore the enhancements and upgrades take on an outsized degree of significance.

At least, that would be my guess as to why we still see super-cycle upgrades now and then at points of fairly significant technological improvement.

I fall into this category, because I have a 12 Pro Max, and it is still great, flawlessly unscratched or anything else that would make me "tired" of it, and the battery still lasts a long time. That said, it's a TWELVE... The phone coming out is a FIFTEEN... Three whole generations of improvements... (At least, this is what is going round and round in my brain, and my wallet always sheepishly follows along and does whatever my brain says.)

People update their phones when they think it is time because their old one no longer serves their need. Only a small percentage chase specs.
Well, bigger battery, better camera more memory are reasons but not sure its worth it.
Thats why I just upgrade to the last years iPhone buying it used on swap,
only ends up costing about $500 a year that way. I can't imagine what the 512 pro max 15 is going to cost!
