My 16PM lands tomorrow. I've ordered the ESR and Torras screen protectors. Already have the Spigen EZfit ones but have seen quite a few poor reviews about them unfortunately...

They've been faultless on every phone I've installed them on, will try them first and report back

That is my current situation with Torras…. This annoying gap between the protector and the silicone case is a dust magnet, traps dust like crazy

Don’t know if anyone is interested, but I received this email from dBrand the other day regarding the Prism 2.0 I ordered on September 9th. Sounds promising, and I’m glad they’re not willing to compromise on the fit and quality of the screen protector.
Human,

Following up about your recent purchase of Prism 2.0: the idiot-proof screen protector.™

First off, some good news: there's no lifting around the edges.

Perhaps you're thinking: "of course there isn't… why would there be?"

Well, you may have noticed that other iPhone 16 series screen protectors in the market feature an obnoxious black border around the edge.
22301906-e94f-4363-b7d4-db17fede4464.jpeg
The reason is pretty simple, but rarely explained by manufacturers. When a device has thin bezels, for example on the iPhone 16 series, there is very little room for error on installation. If you’re too high, low, left, or right, you’ll end up with lifting around the edge. This is especially true for devices that have a rounded border. The iPhone 16 series (particularly the Pro and Pro Max) check both of these boxes: the bezels are extremely thin and the borders are indeed rounded.

Given that most people can't install a screen protector perfectly, this "black border" exists as a sort of insurance policy against botched installations. In fact, because the iPhone 16 series (particularly the Pro and Pro Max) have such slim bezels, sometimes even this black border can’t save a poorly fitted or misaligned screen protector from lifting around the edges (see below, from an Amazon review).

Since Prism 2.0 handles the perfect alignment on your behalf, we didn't need to rely on these black borders. Having now tested our mass production stock, we have 100% certainty that there's zero lifting around the edges.

There is, however, a slightly imperfect registration. It’s about a quarter-millimeter too high on the display. Below is an image of the bottom, with Prism 2.0 applied.

Can’t even tell it’s on there, right? Exactly as designed, perfectly registered against the active display.

Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the top. Note the gap between the edge of the active display and the edge of the screen protector. It’s vertically offset to a degree we’re not comfortable shipping.

We’re currently in the process of re-producing our stock with the intended perfect registration. Fortunately, because the installation tray, cleaning kit, and packaging are all good to go, this is just a simple matter of re-producing the screen protector component.

Ultimately, we hold our product to the same standard we expect you will. That means we’re unwilling to ship anything with a bad fit…
We’re aiming to have this perfected stock ready to ship in about 3 weeks. No further action is required from your end, just expect an email as soon as it’s been shipped out.

Of course, if you’d like to cancel your order, that can be arranged as well. Simply reply to this email and the Support Robots can lend a hand.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you an idiot-proof screen protector shortly.

Signed,
A Robot

P.S. If you purchased a Prism 2.0 for your iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus and are wondering why we sent you this email, it’s because the 15 and 15 Plus are identical models (in terms of screen protectors) to the 16 and 16 Plus.

I know they’re just trying to market their reasoning for no black borders, but they’ve got it completely wrong. They aren’t there to minimize bad fitment. They are for making the screen protector 99% imperceptible to being installed at all. I can see the edge of a non black border protector every time.

Right. I don't understand what they're doing. The problem with their screen protectors doesn't even seem like a problem. What's behind this?

Seriously, like the marketing talk is going to somehow change the law of physics where the prism effect of putting cut glass on top of a bright screen won't produce a rainbow effect on the edges that is super visible. Maybe the problem with late delivery could be late delivery by their supplier?

I’ve tried two different screen protectors for my iPhone 16 Pro. PanzerGlass and Belkin UltraGlass 2.

PanzerGlass didn’t fit well. It had the black border around the edges of the screen protector. Since the borders are so thin on the 16 Pro series the black border on the protector covered a small part of the screen all the way around the edges. To me this is unacceptable since the slim edges is a big part of the selling point.

Belkin UltraGlass 2 fits perfect. Was a bit of a hassle to get perfect (air bubbles was hard to remove but they went away after using a credit card to push they out). Somehow the screen protector was slightly misaligned in the EasyAllignment tray. So I had to lift it and adjust it manually but thankfully it ended up perfectly. Only negative I’m seeing is a slight rainbow effect along the sides when phone is tilted slightly (which tend to happen on the screen protectors without the black border) but at least no rainbow effect on the screen.

Are you using a case, along with the installed screen protector, on your 16 Pro? I also don't find the rainbow effect significant with the Belkin Ultraglass 2.

Yes, I’m using the Apple silicone case with the protector. No problem. There’s a small gap between the edges of the screen protector and the case. Curios to see if the small gap will be a dust-magnet. Time will tell.

In my experience, that gap is more of a function of the case than the screen protector. In other words, every screen protector I've ever used with an Apple Silicone case does the same thing to varying degrees. On the other hand, the Phone Rebel (for example) covers more of the bezel and does a better job of hiding the gap (and dust).

With the Apple Silicone it will be a dust magnet. I like the case a lot, but I wish the lip covered more of the bezel to prevent the accumulation of dust and detritus.

Just received this from FloLab after complaining about the bezels on the 16 Pro:
FWIW: The AR coating, thinness, and smoothness on both the edges and glass itself was noticeable compared to my Torras protectors
At least they gave you some options, I didn’t get either of those options when I reached out. Interested to see how the new options look once they are available..

I am using one now. It cuts off a little part of the screen. In the camera app, one of the L’s misses a few pixels. The other L’s miss the I part…
Must be the same as the one I have. Black borders with an earpiece protector as well. Mine also covers the camera corners. But 8$ cheaper for 4 pieces. MRGLASS.

Good luck to them. I heard due to tolerances some iPhones have differing degree of bezel sizes and alignment. It’s going to be interesting.

Spigen EZfit screen protector installed. Zero issues, went on first time. No bubbles, no lifting as they’ve always been with me

Works perfectly with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T MagSafe case

Some close up photos of the edges and corners would be nice. Since most of us discussing gaps and sharp edges. Not so much dust and bubbles. Cheers

I’ve been watching this thread for a while and finally purchased an ESR Armorite based on a person’s feedback here…

I can confirm that the ESR screen protector (the one with the Ultrafit tray) is pretty much 99% dead on with the Belkin screen protector pictures I see. It extends just a tiny bit past the bezels.

What’s funny is that the new ‘UltraFit’ tray that comes with the ESR kit is also pretty much 99% dead on with the Apple store Belkin screen protector installer…

$15 for 3 screen protectors is a killer deal compared to the UltraGlass 2, I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something similar to the UltraGlass 2 (AKA no black borders, and no bezel blockage)

Did they update the armorite?
