I think there are a lot of people out there waiting for a bigger iphone (such as 6.55-6.6" mentioned in the article) that is really light weight to hold. I could see it selling well for this reason even if the price is higher and the battery life is a little less.

I know there are a bunch of people on this site that want bigger, heavier phones with even more battery life but there are plenty of iphone users that want the exact opposite.

I would pay extra if they would make the whole body as thick as the camera bump, and fill it with battery. Chasing thinness has no added value at this point, especially if a camera is sticking out doubling the claimed thickness.

Relocated Cameras
The Information claimed that the iPhone 17 "Slim" will have cameras in locations we haven't seen before on an iPhone. According to a May report, the rear cameras could be moved to the "top center" of the device. Some Android phones like Google's Pixel 8 Pro have rear cameras in a top-center position, but Apple's iPhone camera system has occupied the top-left corner ever since the 2007 model.

Wait, I've seen this one before!

I still don’t understand that camera array on an iPhone 17. First, it looks like following the trail of Google’s Pixel phones. Second, if we’re switching the camera array on the iPhone 16 to have two vertical lenses, in order to capture 3D video, are we going to miss that on this -supposedly more advanced- model? Or maybe we’re supposed to film 3D video in portrait…

Didn't Apple showcase an algorithm to get depth data out of still images? I wonder if they'd be able to be the same for video.

This is one of my favorite renders of what Apple would do if they went with this design. And honestly I like it, you can’t keep the same layout forever.
That is so ugly. I prefer the way the Pixel implements the horizontal camera module better.

So this rumored iPhone is going to likely have less battery capacity than current Plus sized iPhones…

But a more demanding display with battery intensive on device AI capabilities…

Seems like a weird combination of features that will be a detriment when people compare the battery life to iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 16 Plus

This upcoming iphone 17 should be the upcoming 16. There hasn’t be any major change since the iPhone 12. Meaning the iPhone 12=13=14=15=16. That’s 5 years of same form factor with some subtle incremental changes. Even in the car industry models see more progress/changes in design and functionality. Oh wait… Apple also failed in that field 😅

Actually looks pretty cool in mockups. Glad I hanged onto my iPhone 14 Pro, I'll wait for the 17 slim. Save myself some money.

You better wait for the iPhone 18 pro! Rumors says it will be using alien grade materials and this model will be the first one where Siri is able to understand one sentence correctly and 50% chance it will understand your following question.

Give me iPhone 17 DatAss that is super thick and has a 26400 mAh battery, please. WHy does Apple think we want a credit card for a phone rather than a phone that will last on a charge?
For the same reason an Apple Watch doesn’t hold up for 24 hours on battery live. I always wonder why there is a sleep function in Apple health app for the watch as it always dies on battery life while I sleep 😂😂😂

Come on Timmy… spend a few more pennies on battery life and RAM and make the experience for the customers so much better!

I promise you Timmy you’ll still get enough pennies to count all day 🤑🤑🤑

What many of us want is a smaller (not thinner) iPhone with all of the newest features.
You can't have that. Maybe I'd apreciate it too but it doesn't work.
They can't make a "special" version of the phone that sells less, cost money to develop and takes buyers away from a more expensive purchase.
They tried and they failed.
Special version must cost more.

Cost more? We have the same form factors for 5 years now. They all use off the shelf parts available for everyone except their A-series of chips.

So what cost are you taking about? Can’t be that for R&D because Apple already spends less into R&D procent wise than other technology companies.

The Watch does handle 24hrs, in spite of the official rating when seems pretty conservative and artificial. I wear my watch every night for sleep tracking and then charge up in the morning. My S7 generally has about 25% of charge left. Most nights I also put it into theater mode as I don’t like the screen glowing or coming on as I move around. That saves about another 10%. That is with a workout most days. My previous S4 actually did better on battery.

i do wish that they would give it about 50% more battery just to give it a buffer and because sometimes i forget to charge in the morning and have to charge at the office later.
