Was it the camera or battery life that ruined it for you, or something else?

I’m very happy here—the Air is my favorite phone in a long while…

Probably a little of both honestly. The device itself is incredible but too many shortcomings for the price point. The 17 base has better value than the Air. I’ll wait for Apple to slap 2 Airs together and make a fold. That’s been my dream device for years, especially after test driving a galaxy z fold 7.

Also waiting on confirmation about the cancellation from Caudabe. Ordered a Nomad modern leather in Olde Dublin instead. Just one of my all time favorites. The nicest buttons, easy to get on and off the phone for cleaning, good protection and super nice patina over time. Also looking forward to the special edition untreated finish on the Olde Dublin horween leather.

I’m dealing with issues with Nomad. I did an exchange of my Modern lunar gray case for a Traditional leather and they haven’t processed the exchange for 3 days. No word from them after I emailed them. Now a few days later and the case is showing back ordered until Oct 20th.

For 17PM, tried several torras cases. Not happy yet. :(

I’m looking for a case that doesn’t add too much bulk to the phone, yet has really good side grip and the camera control button built-in. Currently testing supcase beetle which seems protective and very nice but adds some bulk on the corners. The Torras silicone 360 O stand is just too slippery— junk!. Contemplating trying the Spigen armor with the kickstand next. The torras q3 air looks good, except for the inflated price and lack of protection in the camera lens area

My requirements:
-not too much bulk
-good drop protection
-camera control button
-stand for portrait and landscape

Thoughts ??

What do you think about the Arc Pulse on the 17 PM ?

Seems all the popular companies are dealing with a surge in orders right now and struggling to keep up with it. Seen a lot of the versions of it back ordered on the Nomad page when I ordered today and they're stating high-demand. Mine showed available, so we'll see. Report back when you hear from them?

I’m happy that this year, perhaps more so than in a long time, we have a clear differentiation among the devices. Base iPhone is an incredible value, Air is super premium, and the Pros are more industrial and truly geared toward professionals more than they’ve ever been. Good times.

A few years back, I definitely would have went for the current Pro, but my priorities have changed and I now primarily use the phone camera for family and friends, in situations where a DSLR is too intimidating. The single Fusion camera is great for this. For more serious photography—landscapes, wildlife, street—I’ve gone back to a real camera which even today still outperforms the best phone cameras by a wide margin.

Here’s my update from Süti:

Thank you for your email. We truly apologize for the inconvenience. It seems the carrier has lost the order, and we would like to extend a complimentary replacement. We've got that order placed for you, and we will get that shipped right away!

Are they going to make you wait another 18 days? It better be expedited shipping

Zack (jerryrigeverything) tested the flat surfaces for scratch resistance and they held up fine. The only weak point is the square edge around the plateau, which the Arc Pulse appears to protect. I really don’t think it will be an issue under normal use. Of course, dropping any phone in an Arc into a pile of jagged rocks is not going to go well… lol.

Absolutely spot on. Plus there are so many top shelf small mirrorless cameras out there today. You don’t need no clunky DSLR.

I’ll go premium once Apple releases the fold.

Best case I’ve used for the Air. However don’t think this device is gonna make the cut. Been using the PM more as it’s just a better phone. Simple as that. I’ll wait for Apple to slap a hinge on 2 Airs next year and call it a Fold.

Nope my friend, it’s over for the Air.

It’s plastic.

The grip is better because it’s overpriced plastic 😂 …gotta give genuine leather time to wear in the grip feeling. You know that. But hey, I’m not knocking you all if you enjoy the case. Personally I won’t buy plastic leather for that price.
Oh ok good choice keeping the pro Max.

Really like the feel of the frost synthesis! Going back and forth with this and the ghost! Only thing with the frost is I can hear the buttons rattle

I also weighed them- ghost is 39g and frost is 43g for science purposes

TW came in at 30g

So which case is currently best if you also want to keep the plateau scratch free?
Caudabe seems good but horrible shipping times. Especially in Europe.

With delivery times it would arrive starting November...

but i dont want to have a flimsy cheap feeling case either.
Neither Nomad, Otterbox or UAG have camera plateau protection unfortunately.

Nice. Does the frost synthesis feel better in the hand compared to the ghost? What about the other specs (length, width and thickness)?

Can you see the Apple logo at all through the frost?

Go Birds!

Returning our iPhone 17 Pro Max Otterbox Defender Pro cases and exchanging them for the Defender Pro XT cases. First, decided that a clear case was in order. It's pretty harsh with the sun exposure here in Texas. My current black Defender Pro XT on my iPhone 15 Pro Max gets pretty hot when we're out running errands. Second, the case is more slim. Hopefully, the Camera button is more functional and solves issues reported with the regular Defender Pro.

Damn, looks way nicer that the crappy black one I received.
