Apple recommends not covering the plateau as it traps heat, but if you really want it covered, you can get separate covers on Amazon.
I’m struggling to find a cover this ISNT a “lens protector” and therefore covers the lenses in some cheap plastic?

In my mind I’d love just a clear sticky skin to protect scraping, but maybe that’s sort of pointless and it certainly doesn’t protect against the plateau being hit the wrong way…

I saw someone post those old style soft tpu skins for the plateau in another thread. They had both glossy and matte. I don’t remember what thread it was though lol

Power Support Air Jacket for 17 PM. Nice and slim in the hands and has good MagSafe. But the buttons are silver (why not white?) and they rattle when I shake the case.

Also they used to be made in Japan but are now made in China

I had some time today to catch up on case reviews on YouTube. I’ll probably take some heat for this, but here’s my two cents. Every year I see the same pattern in YouTube case reviews: certain “reviewers” (really influencers) tear into Apple’s cases, then gush over products from the same handful of brands that supply them with free samples or partnerships. They swear the reviews are unbiased—maybe they even believe it—but the pattern says otherwise. Maybe Apple’s cases truly are awful, but in my experience they’re about average: no better and no worse than most third-party options. Just something to keep in mind when watching supposedly “unbiased” reviews…
For wiw, I actually like the Apple Silicone case this year. Feels great in the hands for the 17 pro models. The Silicone has never been a bad case, they just wear down too fast for a $60 case AND I like the Tech Woven as well. Have to see how durability holds up but the initial like is there. I’ve been using it a lot. We all have preferences and opinions and that shows deeply when it comes to accessories 😎.

Anybody ever tried the native union cases?

Thanks for that, just picked it up. Got my phone yesterday, but my Spigen Thin Fit which I ordered to tide me over until my Sheath arrives is lost in the ether/mail. This is the only case I could buy instore here with precise cutouts.

Quick review- a bit meh, to be honest. Good fit, excellent buttons, but very little lip on both front, sides and back, and not much grip. I don’t think the phone would survive a drop without any damage. The cutaway for the flash is slightly misaligned too.

It’ll do for a week until I get the Sheath, but I can’t recommend it.

Yeah the fit is great but that piece above the port is flimsy and has too much movement.

Regarding those Suti back covers, with that tiny gap at the top I’d be worrying about grit getting in and being pressed against the phone when setting down.
Good point, but I don’t think it will be a major problem, unless you are super rough with your phone. You just need to remove it, give everything a once over and a quick cleaning once in a while, just like with any other case.

I saw it here. It was an Apple design document for case makers.
Looking at the document @Spocky linked to and page 320 he mentioned only says not to cover it with "metal or other conductive materials".

Unless there's something else mentioned on another page then I guess most cases are okay to cover it as they're made of plastic/silicone/polymers (all insulators). There are some polymers that can be conductive but I can't see why most big case makers would use those if they've seen this document.

So in general, as long as it's not carbon fibre or metal it seems we're good?

Can someone with Pitaka Ultra thin post some reviews?
I'm curious about USB-C port cutout. If its changed from previous lineup. I can see on photos, that there is little bigger space.
I had problem with my pinkie on 16PM version...

The Suti Alpine Orange phone back has arrived. Apologies for the pic from my iPad Air 5th Gen.

First impressions:

-Great form factor and feel in the hand
-Decent grip from rear silicone inlay when fingers rest on it
-Strong MagSafe
-Heavier than it needs to be but not a deal breaker. Sorry, I don’t have a scale to weigh it
-Very tiny gap at top of phone back and can press down on camera plateau. Not a big deal. I just wanted to point it out (@strkt1192 pointed it out earlier)

That’s all I can think of for now. So far so good. It totally fits the bill for someone like me that primarily runs minimalist cases.
The bending has been an issue for those form day 1. You can try bending it in slightly from the top/bottom (it worked for my 16PM leather).
This case has been my go to with my 16PM but I’m more concerned about the edges not being protected with these aluminum phones.

Was looking at my TW case yesterday and I cant see where it would scratch or mark the handset in any way. Its still rather protective.
People are worried as the interior sides and back have a sandpaper feel to them.

Where did you find this? I’m having a hard time finding it anywhere. I use to use their clear case years ago.
It’s a local online retailer in Australia.
