I have been using the
ESR Cloud Series Silicone with the Stash Stand, and I have to say, I have loved it so far. I have the silver 17 Pro Max, and I got the black one because I knew it would be a temporary case until I got the Phone Rebel or a dbrand Tank. ESR makes solid cases. I have loved them for the price. And I like the metal stand on it. No, it has not caused any scratches or damage to the new phone. The CC button functions similarly to the OEM, and the buttons are clicky. The only thing I hate about these cases is the lanyard holes - it's just a spot for dust/dirt/lint to get in, and I never use them. The case feels great in my hand; I don't have fingerprints all over it, and it's not too bulky. Great magnets as well!
I tried the Benk ArmourPro and had some fitment issues. It too had great magnets, but there was a spot at the top of the phone where the speaker is that was raised. So that went back.
The Pitaka Ultra Slim wasn't bad, but it is just a very slim case. It protects against scratches, but it wouldn't protect against a significant fall. It was also damn near impossible to get off. I thought I was going to break it trying, but I finally managed to remove it without damage. That will stay in the box outside of some emergency or until I decide to sell it.
For a budget-friendly, yet sturdy and decent-looking basic case, the
Peerock Shockproof case is a nice option. It's now around $17, but it is light, sturdy, and has great buttons. If I didn't love the ESR as much as I do, I would be in this case. I have the matte black, which is similar to a frosted/translucent case. It looks great. The magnets are not some cheap version where the phone pops off on a bump or your wallet slides around. Similar to the Benks strength, but not as strong as the ESR. It even has a CC button that is just as good as the one ESR is using. I would bet they are the same—really great response.
