Likely going to return the Phone Rebel Air, sides are super grippy but the back feels like a wet bar of soap. Back again to the Tech Woven, might pick up the Silicone case as a companion while they are discount at Amazon.

Just received the Pro Max version with Dark Circuit! Really nice case.
I had this case for my 15 Pro Max... my most favorite case - like it was sculpted for the phone perfectly. Yes it's a little bulky but it its super light and the grip changes the phone dynamics completely - holding the phone becomes much more enjoyable.

Definitely something Batman would have on his phone. The perfect fit with no movement is surprising and impressive.

I'm looking forward to mine this week on my 17 Pro.

Me too. He’s one of the only tech YouTubers who maintains independence from the manufacturers, which gives his reviews greater credibility. He’s also one of the only using a set of objective test criteria. Consequently, his reviews end up being much more valuable than those of the typical influencer.
I wish his reviews were more comparable. Like... put the numbers in a table at the end of the video so I can compare cases. The way they are now it's like "and this one is 33% more rigid than the average case" and I'm like "great, that tells me nothing... I need to have a look at the other reviews again".
With the reviews so far we've got a mixed bag of so-so cases basically. Not one really great one up until now. He seems to be a Mous fanboy though.
And I've ordered a Mous Limitless, since I loved it on my 15 PM. The mous subreddit reminds me of the Caudabe one, though. Everyone complaining about less than average QC. So we'll see what I get from them... 😬

(still loving my Beats rugged btw, even though it got a "no" from him).

Also had it for the 15PM. It's noticeably thinner for the 17 series. Im very happy with it.

How does it slide and out of pocket? Does DBrand stock the Grip?
It really doesn’t slide out the pocket, which is good because I’ve had my phone fall out my sweatpants pocket at home. When I go out my phone is in my bag. When I ordered in late September they were delivered a week later.

It's not that there is no lip protection on the TechWoven case, it's that the case doesn't really snap on very well and will let the phone pop right out. The case may as well have no lip protection, because what is there is not going to help in a fall.

And it's not just the screen at risk. The side edges and corners can end up mashed.

My screen protector is thin enough that when I push my phone all the way into the TechWoven case I can feel a good amount of lip above the screen, as if it would protect things. But I know that if I drop it face-down, my iPhone will basically slide right out of the case and will be hit with full-force of the drop at whatever spot it lands on.

With the case on, the gap around the edges is big enough that you can see the color of your phone around the display. So it's clear that Apple didn't even try to make it hold on the phone very well.
Dropping TechWoven on its side or back? It may be fine. Dropping TechWoven on its front? Well, you're simply dropping it wrong.

The look of the case is great. The feel is great. But yeah, I would NOT trust it to protect my phone.

I'll just chime in here and say the TW I have on my 17 Pro is tight and there's zero chance it would pop off in a face down drop. Maybe that's different for the Pro Max (not sure which phone you have), but when I had the 17PM, the TW I had for it was equally tight.

Orange 17PM arrived finally! I actually had to let it sit for a few hours because last night was a disaster and I spent 7 hours in two different hospital ERs. Everything is good now, so here’s my setup.

  • Torras Origarmor screen protector (from Amazon, took a couple days, I think)
  • Pitaka Sunset Ultraguard case (ordered direct, took two weeks)
  • Aforementioned Orange 17PM
There’s a tiny bit of lip on the front with the screen protector. It’s enough for me but might not be enough for other folks. The camera has a little more lip. Buttons feel nice and clicky. Camera control works well, but coming from my 14PM, it’s a new feature and I’m not sure I like it. Probably need to enable double click but we’ll see.

That's dedication to posting that setup.

Nice, is this case available on Amazon yet?

That sure is one sweet looking case.

I know my word is garbage around here but I’ll still provide input when it’s a case I have. I love it for the iPhone Air. Fit is subpar for the 17 Pro Max.Strong magnets.
I am just but a Macrumors member but - I appreciate your info and viewpoints. More info the better informed decisions we can make (even those I don't see eye to eye with).

Looks great. So there is no lifting of the screen protector? There is enough space?

He’ll most likely do an overview once the individual reviews are complete. I seem to remember that from years past.

I’m not a big fan of Mous, but they did really well in his outdoor drop tests in the past. Their quality seems to have slipped since the 14 series though, which IMO was arguably their best year.

Third party QC seems terrible this year, at least for the Air. The only cases I’ve tried so far that don’t have some issue or another are the Apple and Beats (I’m pretty much in the Apple Clear Frost full time now). I have a Nomad coming this week, we’ll see what kinds of defects it has… lol.

How are they???
Pretty good. At first they wouldn’t stick that good to the Apple silicone. But seems like it takes a while for the stick to settle. Plugs go right in, then you “dig” the plug out. Somewhat inconspicuous. W

Will get a better test at work tomorrow.
