After all that criticism of $50+ cases I’m starting to feel pretty good with my temuesque otterbox symmetry :)) buttons are ok, lipage is good, just the sharp edges and unnecessary grooves that collects dust are making me crazy…
Any consensus on the closed plateau cases? Are they more protective? How convenient is to take them out of the pocket and wipe off the lenses with such a case in terms of lint and debris?

That's so weird, but I believe you.

I'm with you in that I prefer cases that don't show the frame of the phone around the screen. But the TW I have on my 17 Pro fits nice and tight and isn't easy to remove. In fact, I removed it to install the Phone Rebel Air yesterday and I had to remove it from the top by putting my fingers on the camera plateau to get leverage to pry the corners off. I usually remove cases by the bottom corners, but they're just too tight on the TW case to do it that way.

Someone earlier mentioned the PR Air case and how they returned it because the back was slippery like a bar of soap. I'm convinced they either got a different case or a weird one off, because the back of my Air has the perfect mix of grip without being hard to take out of your pocket.

I guess it just shows how people have different things they like about cases.
That was me, if the Air had just a little bit of texture to the back like the Cadaube or Spigen Rugged Armor, i'd want to keep it. It gets slippery and hard to hold when I'm using the phone in bed or any awkward position.

Probably an unpopular opinion - with most of the $50+ cases, you're just paying more for a brand name and fancy packaging. Maybe you get a warranty and slightly better customer support you wouldn't get otherwise, but when a case costs $20 instead of $50, I'll just buy another and still be ahead.

Look at Bullstrap - someone in the other thread received one that was accidentally branded WIIUKA. Same case from the factory, Bullstrap just stamps their logo on it, puts it into flashy packaging, and doubles the price.

You can get good leather cases AliExpress, YMW. Some say YMW is same factory as Andar.

I mostly agree. If you consider there are estimated to be roughly 40-50 major case suppliers in China, and somewhere north of 1,000 brands of cases on the market, there is going to be some re-branding happening, probably much more than people realize. On the other hand, “premium” brands may be speccing higher grade materials and added features, even if their products are coming out of the same factory as budget brands.

Unfortunately, premium brands don’t always fulfill their promise of superior customer service, as we’ve recently seen with a few companies here. There also seems to be a trend of making returns more difficult.

Yep it’s how you spec. Chinese factories can make anything.

Gotcha. I couldn't remember who mentioned the back and I admittedly was too lazy to scroll back to find it.

I'm with you that I'd prefer if the back had a more pebbled back like the Sheath, but I'm pretty darn happy with it for a $21 case.

Now if I can convince myself to pay the $50 for the PR Gen 7 when it releases later this week. Ugh, I loved the one I had for my 15 Pro Max, but $50 for the case, then extra for different sets of buttons, and possibly the camera guard (that you get free if you pre-order). I'm trying to keep my case habit in check, which Caudabe is really helping with right now. Haha.

He’ll most likely do an overview once the individual reviews are complete. I seem to remember that from years past.

I’m not a big fan of Mous, but they did really well in his outdoor drop tests in the past. Their quality seems to have slipped since the 14 series though, which IMO was arguably their best year.

Third party QC seems terrible this year, at least for the Air. The only cases I’ve tried so far that don’t have some issue or another are the Apple and Beats (I’m pretty much in the Apple Clear Frost full time now). I have a Nomad coming this week, we’ll see what kinds of defects it has… lol.
Gotcha, guess we'll get an overview around Christmas then 😅 In any case, watching his reviews gave me new insight into what to look for when it comes to phone protection. Currently unhappy with my whole lineup because of that 😂

Yeah I had some minor issues with my 15PM Mous case as well and the reviews back then were also very mixed. Hoping for the best. I've yet to find a case without at least minor alignment issues...

I'm debating on picking a Gen 7 up too assuming Amazon actually has them ready to ship at the end of this week.
