Worth noting: ARC returns process is useless, submitted the requested images to prove the product is unused and I’ve chased, no response as yet from the 24th of october

Is this a US thing or am I expecting too much?

Requested a refund from Caudabe (I posted a photo the other day of my case cut in half) for the Sheath I received - it had all the issues (button rattle, visible seams/joins on the back, off-centre cutouts), so it was a defective/faulty return not a change of mind.

They've only refunded the cost of the item and not the shipping costs. Here in the UK if a business sends a faulty item that has to be returned then typically the business also refunds postage and pays for free return postage.
Caudabe insisting on not refunding shipping costs for a faulty/defective product is just another flag against them. Imagine buying something, it not being as advertised and clearly defective and not being able to claim back all of what you paid.

Update in this exciting saga, not that anybody else gives a sh*t, but Caudabe have agreed to refund shipping too after a bit of insistence from me. Glad they did they right thing.

Looked into it myself and seems to be a USA only thing. In the UK and EU I believe consumer law states companies legally have to refund shipping if it's a defective item, whereas in the USA it seems more vague and down to individual state law. Caudabe don't exactly make it clear when ordering - the only mention of non-refundable shipping is in the FAQ under returns, and they don't appear to have any terms and conditions.

It’s been about two months since the new phones arrived and we all started this annual case buying insanity. So far, it seems like a typical year, with all sorts of issues: manufacturing defects, shipping delays, slow returns, and so forth. This year, I’d planned on limiting my collection to ~5 cases total (down from around 20 the past few years—yikes), but it’s taken quite a few more than five to arrive at a satisfactory set, and I’m not even done yet. Here’s where it’s at currently:

Apple Clear - Keeper
Beats - Keeper
Andar Aspen - Keeper
Mous Limitless - Keeper
Arc Pulse - Defective, returned
Pitaka Ultra-slim - Defective, returned
Tineeowl - Defective, returned
Nomad Trad Leather - Defective, returned
Süti PhoneBack - Defective, trashed
Otterbox Cactus - Arriving tomorrow

Going by that list, I have a less than 50% chance that the Otterbox will be defect-free… LOL. We’ll see. 😅

I have to relearn this every year, but buying direct is a PITA, with all sorts of shipping and returns BS. I always swear I’m only going to buy from Amazon, but my impatience always gets the best of me. Among those returns listed above, the only two that went smoothly were the Nomad and Amazon (Tineeowl). Nomad uses a third-party service called “Happy Returns” which actually works well. Caudabe, Arc, Pitaka, and Suti (among others, I’m sure) could learn something here.

How’s it been for you this year? Have you settled into a final rotation yet?

Have you tried the Apple silicone?

Kind of disappointed with this reply.
I was really hoping they would take these back and at least investigate the issue.

Anyway I opted for Option 1. Will pick up another Paragon in Black Friday sale. I really like that case.

Gift Card issued instantly within 5 minutes of me replying back.

I think their CS is getting back to normality.

I will say the only dislike I have personally with the AS and the ATW cases is the CC button being flush with the side. I am liking the recessed CC button on my Spigen Nano Pop case. I think it makes easier to find and know where your hand is on the phone.
Yea took me some time to get used to where the cc button is but all good now.

Nano pop seems like it might be similar to AS?

The material feels much different this year IMHO, you said it perfectly about the break in period as the ASC does change. This years version is their best yet for fit, feel in the hand, buttons etc. everyone’s mileage will vary but I’m loving mine.
So is the wear on yours different than previous years? Like no shiny stickiness that it used to turn into?

Wow, looks like I'm not the only one with a bunch of bad cases.

For more than 25% of the cases I've tried I would consider them unusable. From fitment issues (many are somehow too small) to weird defects (like MagSafe magnets being in the wrong location).

Since my iPhone 17 Pro posts - on my last 14th day, first time in my life, I went to Apple and swapped it for an Air.

Finally got my dBrand Grip for the Air. It's as good as it was for the 17 Pro. Absolutely love it.

Amazing how they keep it so grippy yet didn't add a lot of depth to the phone. Since I grip my phone at the top, love the wider top. Just makes the phone so much easier to hold (for someone like me with super dry hands).

Just makes me want to use my phone even more on top of the light factor which is ... already making me want to use my phone like crazy.

I have the AS, the Ghost and the Sheath.

Whenever I put the AS back on it’s like “ah feels soooo f’ing good…”.

I ended up opening the Apple Silicone after seeing this message and immediately went back to the Ghost 😅.

The pinky feel killed it for me immediately. I really want to move on from the ghost because I hate the camera control button getting pressed randomly from holding the phone.
