just been directed to this v long thread & have been working backwards to see whether this has been asked before - so apols if I've missed the reply ;)

Other than the stand, what's your take on the difference with the alternative (less expensive) version?

Don't see me using the stand much

Don't see me using the stand m
I have the less expensive version for my 15PM and it has served me well. :) (I have the Q3 Air incoming for my new phone today) I think a bit further back someone posted pics. I would assume the main difference is the lack of a kick-stand and just generally less material around it. I can post side by side pics later. It's a very leightweight, slim case that offers good grip and impressive magsafe magnets (the strongest I know). Swappable buttons are also included. And it still offers protection with reinforced corners.

I got this case for my 17 Pro Max

Picked it up this morning. Seems OK. Was only £15. It's down to £10 now.

Usually I get a Spigen case but I don't like the ones available right now. The only one I like is this one:

but it looks like it's plastic around the edges. I hate the feel of that. I like the soft touch/silicone around the edges.

Now I'm looking again they have this one:

I quite like that...but not gonna buy another case now. I actually think I prefer the "TOCOL" one more. It matches the design of the iPhone closer (i mean the two tone part?) and the magsafe ring is a complete circle not the new cut out design.

So I received the black TechWoven yesterday and put my 16 Pro Max in it for a test run. I used it most of the day yesterday and this morning and already barely 24 hours later, the corners of the case, the fabric is looking “ashy” from being held in hand. I even grabbed a moist rag to clean it and it just comes right back to looking the same. I can only imagine after daily use how it’ll look.

Yes it definitely is much better than FineWoven. It feels great in hand as well. I ran my nail across it and no scratch but this wear on the sides already after barely handling it is a pass for me on this case. Not trying to rain on anyone’s TechWoven parade just sharing. It’s going back not worth the premium $60 price imo.

How is the fit with 16 Pro Max? I'm considering to try it with my 16PM.

Has anyone found a case with proper lanyard support (so support for regular (peak design) camera straps) and proper lip / screen protection?

The Nomad Rugged and the Peak Design cases seem to use the same poly subframe with lanyard attachments, at least they did for the 15PM and 16PM. The Rugged has a decent screen lip.

Gone with the ol' reliable....Caudabe Sheath in blue (precise version).

Would have maybe preferred the cutout version looks-wise but they don't do it in blue for some strange reason.

Are people taking into account the large plateau area not having any additional protection when choosing a case?

I normally prefer the look of a case with a camera area cutout, but with the plateau just being anodised aluminium it's very likely to pick up visible scratches on the orange or blue so I've gone with a case that protects it.

I wish Apple would just come up with some super-durable phone body/glass that genuinely didn't need a case, it's always such a shame to cover it up but I live an hour from my nearest Apple store and even with AppleCare it's a real inconvenience if I have to claim for a smashed/cracked/broken nakey iPhone.

This is why I got the silver. The cases I ordered say they have a raised lip around the plateau at least but I won’t know for sure until they arrive.

Sensible choice, I'd considered the same but couldn't find a good case that matched well with the silver. What cases did you choose?

If I could find a good case colour combo (but wasn't a black or white case) for the silver I'd probably switch my order to silver.

Have UAG added a camera control button or is it still a cutout?

Still has the cut out.

I almost never use the camera control button. So I had to go look. I’ve had the phone for almost a year. I think I’ve actually used the button 20 times if that, including the initial… “hey cool new button” testing/playing around.

Anyone have a recommendation for a rugged case for a base 17? I’m not a fan of the otter box defender or the UAG styling. I was looking the the nomad rugged case but it’s only available for the pro models.

Do most people prefer a camera control cutout or actual button?

I didn’t think about the camera plateau possibly needing to be covered. My Gripzilla has been great - loving it on my 15 PM. It just has a cutout for the camera area.

With this new “plateau” being slightly raised, wonder if that makes much of a difference.
