iPhone 17/Air/Pro/Pro Max Cases

Are people taking into account the large plateau area not having any additional protection when choosing a case?

I normally prefer the look of a case with a camera area cutout, but with the plateau just being anodised aluminium it's very likely to pick up visible scratches on the orange or blue so I've gone with a case that protects it.

I wish Apple would just come up with some super-durable phone body/glass that genuinely didn't need a case, it's always such a shame to cover it up but I live an hour from my nearest Apple store and even with AppleCare it's a real inconvenience if I have to claim for a smashed/cracked/broken nakey iPhone.

I also like camera cutouts but I have the same concerns. Right now I have the clear ESR case that has the plateau covered, but since it’s clear it’s still visible. I got the orange PM and I want to show off that color! I’m so thrilled to finally have some real color in the pro models this year haha

Does anybody have a go-to inexpensive “temp case” that they use before their more permanent case arrives?

I ordered a Caudabe that might not arrive for a few weeks so I’m looking for something that will protect my phone in the meantime. Preferably MagSafe compatible and in the $20 range.

I was looking at some of those Torras cases, the slim and the shockproof ones, maybe a Spigen case?

I always have a frameless case for when i need to use one.

I think the orange parts peeping through black is a great look.
I'd prefer to protect the 'plateau' but with it covered I worry about pitting if grit gets between case and aluminium. Can't win really.
Wasn't a worry with the plated titanium as long as removed and cleaned every few days.

I think I'll keep a look out for a skin just for the plateau also, mainly to protect from the grit-in-case risk.

I may be worrying about nothing and the surface is more durable than I think and I hope it is, but I doubt it.

I have the clear ESR case right now. It might end up being my permanent case though, as I want to show off that orange! I am also considering the dbrand ghost because the black goes great with orange for year round Halloween vibes. I’m waiting for some techwoven real world use reviews, as well as feeling them out in person, to see if I want to grab the green one.

But I paid $20 for the clear ESR and I’ll be content if I end up liking it enough to use it permanently :)

For a few edge cases, perhaps cooling is a concern, but with the vapor chamber and aluminum body that seems unlikely. Obviously, a full coverage design will provide better protection in the camera area (I can’t bring myself to call it a “plateau”…lol). That said, for most users I’d say it’s primarily an aesthetic decision.

Good to see Otterbox bringing back the Symmetry Cactus case with a CC button this time :)

The Cactus was one of my favorite cases.

I'll wait until it's on Amazon before ordering one.

I have this on the way for delivery on Monday. I currently have a black tech woven and a benks armor pro, but to be honest, neither are really my cup of tea

I am interested in the new mous limitless, so I might give that a shot as well

I've basically stuck with the cactus for the past 2 years on my 15 pro max. Dropped it a few times and it's held up pretty well. I was going to order it again for the 17PM, but decided to get the Tank instead.
