The iPhone Air looks neat, but once you put it in a case (ANY CASE) the whole point of its design is gone — it’s clearly meant to be used naked. That’s why I’m hesitating, even though I love the fresh new form factor and would give up the Pro’s better camera and battery for it.

For now I’m keeping my 17 Pro Max in orange and grabbing a clear case from Ringke or Spigen (the Sienna Tech Woven looks kinda nice but it still hides most of the color). I’ll still check out the Air on the 19th — maybe it’s so good I’ll finally risk going case-free.
This is the combo I’m most looking forward to. Total weight 180 grams. 10ft of drop protection (on flat surfaces, I’ll have other cases for hiking, etc). I’m looking forward to getting back to the feeling of older phones (smaller, lighter), but with the performance and screen size of modern flagship phones. Of course, YMMV.

...when we have buyers remorse on Cosmic Orange this may be a good Plan C; several options of black, fiber or etc:

I got my ghost for 15 Pro last week. It f*cks! The Apple Clear Case is most likely going back, although I prefer the open bottom and plateau…

Last years case made me finally realize I don’t need 10/20 plus cases for a phone lol …a solid 3-5 is all I’ll be needing this year.

I still have draws of cases that’ll never be heard from again 😂

I received the Sienna TW case for my orange 17 pro max yesterday. I've been using it in my 16 pro max. I've been using Apple Silicone cases lately (skipped FineWoven) and really miss Apple leather cases.

I'm very happy with this techwoven case. It feels great, I was worried what the back would feel like but it has a really nice texture to it and the sides have a subtle grip to them. I also missed the aluminum buttons from the leather cases, so nice to have that back. The Sienna color is more brown than I thought it would be but it should go with the cosmic orange. I'm very tempted to also grab a green or purple TW case.

Not sure how well the TW material will clean but I guess time will tell. The silicone cases were really good in that aspect if they got something on them, especially something wet. I've thought about grabbing a silicone case as well if I'm in an environment that would be prone to the phone possibly getting wet and/or dirty.

But it also would be nice to fully see the phone's color so maybe I'll consider a clear case or go case-free at times.

I can see that with the Ghost! I only run three cases anyways (Pitaka Ulta-Slim, Arc Pulse and dbrand Ghost 2.0). I may drip in another one or two…

The same applies to every other iPhone model, or any smartphone.

The difference is that iPhone Air + case will still be lighter, thinner than a regular iPhone + case.

I'm also willing to bet (I haven't checked) is the Air cases are much lighter than the Pro Max cases since there's less material to cover; so you're ending up with less overall weight anyway.

Anyone tried OpenCase before? I find the MagSafe rings ugly on 17 Pro cases, but I also hate the bulk/weight most cases add. Wondering if this would be a good compromise for days I put a case on:

This looks really rad but I feel like sliding my wallet off would be a nightmare :(

What case is that?
OpenCase - looks like a smaller brand that launched with a Kickstarter previously and has been around a while now

If you put this in a case it would feel like the 16pro without a case. So essentially you can protect the phone and make it feel like a naked 16 pro.
