OpenCase-iPhone-17-Pro-Case.jpg
Anyone tried OpenCase before? I find the MagSafe rings ugly on 17 Pro cases, but I also hate the bulk/weight most cases add. Wondering if this would be a good compromise for days I put a case on:
That thing is going to be floppy

So yeah…….I thought this would happen……I do love being right…..lol 🎉🎉🎉
For what it’s worth, I’ve been using my TechWoven case on my 16PM for three days and it’s got no marks on it like the other poster showed.

Of course these things are going to show wear eventually; it’s still cloth. But I don’t think “it instantly had permanent marks just from holding it” is going to be a common experience with these.

The same applies to every other iPhone model, or any smartphone.

The difference is that iPhone Air + case will still be lighter, thinner than a regular iPhone + case.

I'm also willing to bet (I haven't checked) is the Air cases are much lighter than the Pro Max cases since there's less material to cover; so you're ending up with less overall weight anyway.
It’s different with the iPhone Air.
Other iPhones get thicker with a case, sure, but they’re not all about being ultra-slim in the first place.

The entire point of the Air — even in the name — is how thin it is. Slap a case on it and you kill the one thing that makes it stand out.

I’ve seen the hands-on videos, and even Apple’s own clear case makes it look like just another regular iPhone. And the bumpers are Way too chunky.

Put any case on this phone and the whole “wow, it’s so thin” factor is gone.🤷‍♂️

If you put this in a case it would feel like the 16pro without a case. So essentially you can protect the phone and make it feel like a naked 16 pro.
At that point, why even bother with the Air? It’s supposed to impress. If it’s not super thin anymore, I might as well grab the Pro and get the better camera and battery along with it. If you’re buying the Air, it means you actually care about the design and slimness — take that away and what’s the point?

Agree. And should it fall from your hand, surely it will float ..

It will still impress when it’s substantially smaller than a pro with the case. I also want a lighter phone. Also there are a lot of minimal cases to choose from

That’s great!

I wasn’t knocking it for anyone else and not trying to sway anyone. I was just sharing my own experience and yes “it instantly had permanent marks from just holding it” after less than 24 hours. I have no reason to mislead anyone and the photo clearly shows it.

It is a great case and fits the phone really well. These will still age regardless with the nature of it being cloth and handled in hand.

I’m sure it’s going to be well loved by many just for me personally I’d rather spend $60 or even less on another case that will be lower maintenance and not wear over time. It helped me realize cloth cases aren’t for me.

Got the Orange Silicon and Black Tech Woven for my Orange Pro Max and will most likely be returning the Orange Silicon and using the Black Tech Woven only for now.

I don’t recall impressing someone with a phone since around iPhone 5… lol. I do prefer the design of the Air over the Pro though, which in my opinion (for what it’s worth—about $.02), is the ugliest iPhone ever made.

At times I’ll run it naked, at other times I’ll use cases as minimal as the Arc, and when it’s occasionally called for, I’ll put on a full coverage case like a Phone Rebel. In other words, I’ll use it just like every other phone I’ve ever had, but it will be lighter and better looking while doing so.

ive had a couple. ymmv but the one for the pm was great. really nice hold of magsafe accessories. but then the pro version the hold for magsafe was terrible. ig there wasnt enough room and my wallet didn’t line up perfectly. i did like the material and feel. good metal buttons.

Something happened to my Apple Bumper case for iPhone Air. I purchased on launch day and I was supposed to get it next day. It has been showing delayed status since last Wednesday.

I wasn’t trying to call you a liar or anything; I just think your experience will be uncommon.

How have I never heard of this case. It seems to check of all my requirements and its black!!

Will need to do some research on them.
I have the Ringke Alles for my 16 Pro max, which looks nearly identical to this version for the 17 (other than the obvious differences at the camera hump). It’s a very well made case for what it is (full coverage, beefy), though as you’d expect, it’s quite heavy (IIRC the 16PM version is around 65-70 grams). It’s a two piece design, with a soft inner core and a hard outer shell, similar to the Spigen Tough Armor and Otterbox Commuter. I think the quality is better than either of those. There were a few reports of the kickstand coming apart from the back plate, but I didn’t have any issues with it. I’d recommend it if you like this type of case.

Got the nomad traditional leather case again for the 17 pro. Was happy with the one i had for the 16 pro minus the camera cutout which they’ve corrected this year with a button

Also got the peak design case in the clarino leather finish. Feels great also with my 16 pro in it. Gonna keep the peak design one or the techwoven case after comparing to see which of the two i like more

Do we actually think Caudabe will make the "late September" ship by date?

This is the million dollar question o_O

Just purchased my Otterbox Defender case

That's the case I bought for my 17 pro max orange. I don't see the point of buying that color and then covering up 2/3 of the back with a different case. We'll see how well the clear cases hold up to scratches.

Mous carbon fiber is in. It’s way over priced for what it is, that sai, definitely a high quality build, the cc button seems to still be able to be taken out but would require a lot of force. The tpu sides are dim everywhere, which is a positive. That said, my black tech woven is a better deal imo.

Tomorrow is the true test l- when my cactus is set to arrive.
