I’ve been thinking about this and looking at the Gen 7 Air to figure out why this might of happened. There’s an area at the right side of the plateau, opposite the camera, that is barely protected. At the area indicated in the photo, there is only a very thin layer of TPU (~1mm) over the face and edges of the plateau, with no raised lip whatsoever. Almost every other case surrounds the entire plateau with a raised lip. With this case, only the camera is sufficiently protected—the remainder of the plateau is more exposed and less protected than any other part of the phone. This must be an oversight. They should have ran a lip all the way around the plateau similar to the Sheath (second pic), or made the entire area thicker. In my opinion, this design flaw severely undermines the drop protection of this case.
