If you already have the first Tank, I would say no. Dbrand will send you updated buttons for the first tank for free. Not the CC button though. IMO, the flat finish of the original Tank CC button looked so much nicer than the new shiny finish.

I never really had any problems with the Tank 1 CC button. If you don’t have the original Tank than it’s worth picking up.

I tried the original version from best buy actually twice. The first one had pretty bad camera cutouts and the lock button activated all the time with just brushing against it. Honestly did not care too much about the camera control button, just the other ones.

Reached out to Dbrand who said they may be clearing old stock and to try again, well even a few months later I ordered and got another original copy. Now dbrand says actually BB doesn’t have any of the updated cc versions and to just buy direct from them.

It is an interesting case, just was curious if it was worth the hassle.

I like the Tank but very seldom use it.
The only difference with the new buttons is the volume is now two pieces, and they are a little tighter to get into the case. I got my updated version direct from Dbrand.

Looking for a case for the 17 Pro Max with a tight fit, offers good protection and feels nice to hold in the hand.
I have tried the Caudabe Paragon, Frosted Synthesis and the Paragon and also the dBrand Tank. I found the Paragon to be too slippery and the Tank is just too bulky for me.

Any other cases I should try? I know the Phone Rebel Gen 7 is highly rated, but having watched Tee's video where he did the pull test, the case doesn't have a tight finish like usual, especially at the top of the case.

I decided to finally get the Sienna TW case after wanting it for a while. I already have the green one and like it but thought the “saddle leather” type look would go well with the blue phone. I like the contrast. I ordered the terra cotta silicone case with the phone, and you can see the color difference in the picture. I like the darker look of the Sienna TW.

I bought a blue silicone case but ultimately returned it because of the lint attraction. The terra cotta attracts the same amount, but hides it better compared to the blue one.

Have you tried a Mous Limitless, yet? They offer a tight fit, good grip and good protection.

ETA: Also: The Sheath. Really an awesome case all around.

I keep returning to the Bellroy Venture. Just checks most boxes for me. It’s chunky, but looks so good, is protective and feels nice. It’s basically an alternate version of the Beats Rugged.
I think I prefer cases that cover the camera pleateau over the open ones.

I have Caudabe reward points and keep debating to finally get that paragon moonstone I’ve been keeping in my cart for the past six months, but I’m not convinced yet the Paragon is really worth the money 🤔 especially since it’s the open version. Wish it came in precise.

Does that metal lanyard loop on the bottom of the case worry you at all? If you drop the phone, it may damage the bottom of the phone.
I've always wanted to try the Belroy Venture and may do so as it's on sale at Best Buy.

I returned mine, maybe should of gave it longer.
Do you have black?

Don't like how the back of the Sheath feels, the rough/sandpaper like feel doesn't get on with my hands sadly.
I was thinking of getting Mous Limitless Marine, but I have read many too many people say that the case doesn't age well and the blue fabric material gets stained easily overtime.

The metal loop is recessed, so no part of it actually touches the phone. There’s ample space. So I’m not too worried.

My husband is still using my 2,5 year old Mous speckled fabric on my old 15PM and it’s holding up well. He’s not careful with it. I have the speckled fabric for the 17Pro as well and so far no problems with the back. I think it depends what you do with your phone.

What material are you looking for ?

Also what did you not like about the frosted synthesis?

I would suggest the Tineeowl v2, but the fit isn’t super tight (which I like, makes case swapping easy). Personally, I have dropped my phone in this case a bunch on the 16 series and never had an issue with corners popping off or fitment issues. 17 series seems even better.

I think there’s a lot of recent praise for the Beats rugged lately (myself included), you may or may not like the feel but the fit is tight and the protection is great if you like open plateau. Seems less bulky in person than a “rugged” case.

Sheath is also good and comes in precise or open, but the texture is polarizing. Mous limitless is another option.

For the 17pm I have tried
-beats rugged
-apple techwoven
-caudabe synthesis
-cadaube sheath
-caudabe paragon precise and open
-mous limitless marine
-ridge carbon
-tineeowl v2
-Torras slim
-dbrand tank v1
-Flolab Surtect

Maybe some others I am forgetting, those just come to mind. Beats rugged, synthesis frosted and Tineeowl v2 are my personal favorites.

Thanks!

I don't like the feel of the Sheath material on the back.

I like the Caudabe Synthesis Frosted. I just wanted another case to use alongside it.

Dropped my 17 pro in the TW case and got a dent in the aluminum. Anything more protective out there? How’s the sheath for drop protection?
Depends how much bulk you’re willing to accept. The Sheath is awesome and has really good drop protection for how minimalistic it is.
Then you have the Mous Limitless, the Beats Rugged, Flolab Surtect, dbrand Tank, Torras Q3 Air… take your pick.

I like to keep it pretty slim. Miya limitless seems like it might fit the bill but the dbrand tank is too big.
