So far my phone has survived three drops onto hardwood floor: one in the Sheath, one in the Mous Limitless and one in the Tank yesterday. I would also add the Bellroy Venture to the mix, but that might be a tad too heavy for you. I would definitely always choose a case with camera pleateau cover as the truly rugged option.
Mine has survived wait and chest high drops on hard flooring in the Sheath. I thought for sure my phone was damaged.

My open Sheath has zero screen lip/protection with a screen protector on 🫪 can’t remember if precise is the same way?
I think I’m going to get a Mous. It has those TPE inserts in the corners which are a big plus—almost all of the 17PM damage I’ve seen has been on the corners. I also like the raised top and bottom lip, and the fact that it appears to be more rigid than the Tank.

I still can’t believe Apple have used aluminium for these phones.

Who cares about so called “cooling” when your phones casing deforms with the slightest drop whether it’s in a case or not.

The cooling doesn’t make a difference anyway
It seems pretty clear there is a cost savings with aluminum. Of course, that’s not going to be listed as one of the phone’s features… lol.

What backing? Aramid fiber, black leather or one of the cloth versions?

Yeah, now that I have a Butter-Soft™️ Pro Max, my brain has been recalibrated to wanting only highly protective cases. So there’s the Beats Rugged, Mous Limitless, and possibly the Tank. All of the other highly protective cases I’ve seen have one thing or another that makes them unappealing to me (floppy top, too little lip, scratchy internals, etc.).
Having the same feeling, and just recently I noticed my Beats rugged is kind of loose near the camera control. Meaning if I squeeze the phone slightly I can feel movement and hear some squeak type sound lol.
Now I’m looking into the tank and Mous but really want to confirm if they are tight all around and not like the new Rebel where it’s loose on top….
Just when I tought I could make it the rest of this season without more cases 😩

I’ll most likely have a Mous tomorrow, I’ll report back. The fit on my Air was perfect.

As far as the top, the Mous has a rigid PC frame that surrounds the plateau, which is fairly unique and is one of the main reasons I’m interested in the case.

Both Mous and Tank fit very snugly on the phone. The Mous is more easily removed though. The Tank holds on for dear life 😂 Which is both excellent for drop protection and impractical if you’re a serial case changer. I removed it yesterday after the fall to check the phone and possibly clean it and there was not even a speck of dust under it, which I can’t say for the Mous who lets dust in at the top. Do with that what you will 😂

Same here, I looked at it at the Apple Store, bought it and put it on. By the time I made it to the end of the mall I wanted to return it. It’s a cool case but it just wasn’t for me.
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of the Beats Rugged either. The black one I have is way too slippery at the top and along the upper sides when picking the phone up from a table. Plus, the black top is a fingerprint magnet. It would’ve been a fantastic case if they had extended the grip bumps all the way up under the camera plateau area.

You guys are weird (just kidding!!). 😊 I like the Beats so much that I’m hesitating on pulling the trigger on the Mous and/or Tank. I’m just not 100% convinced on its level of protection, but it did pass Four-Eyed Tech Guy’s drop test.
