Is it widely believed that the 16 Plus will be the last ever large non-Pro model?

So the Pro will become mid-range?
SE - Non-Pro - Pro - Pro Max - “Slim”

It is very unlikely that Apple has final marketing names over a year out, let alone a final price point.
Guarantee this information is going to age badly.

I‘d like to see that „dual dear“ camera system. Will be called iPhone Air btw.

There is obviously something not adding up with this “slim” model.

What I will say is this, it’s clearly a reactionary idea because of falling sales outside the US, No real AI until next year(still not convinced) and churning out the same design for 6 years and believing the sheep will keep buying.

Apple is so far behind now in hardware and design it’s actually quite sad for those of us who’ve been there since the OG iPhone.

Last time this kind of rampant SKU differentiation happened Steve had to return and slash the range to refocus on value. Hopefully there's someone waiting in the wings who understands Apple's core values to take over when Tim finally decides he has enough money - I assume he's not in it for the love of the tech.

Last time this happened Apple was days away from bankruptcy. The Macintosh was basically Apple's only product. And it was in trouble. Something needed to be done. That's why Steve fixed the Mac lineup.

But fast-forward a couple decades and the iPhone is Apple's #1 product. There are a billion of them in people's hands around the world. The iPhone is clearly a hit.

So I don't see a problem with wanting to expand the iPhone product line.

To everyone who is nostalgic about Steve... do you remember how many iPod models were on the market under Steve's direction? Did we need that many models? Classic and Nano and Shuffle and Touch? Too many SKUs, amirite?

:p

I'm calling it here first. This 17 slim model (or whatever they decide to call it) will sit inbetween the 17 and 17 Pro in terms of specs, but this will be the ONLY model to finally get rid of the dynamic island and just have a hole punch camera, something we've all been waiting on for years. Apple will force users to spend even MORE to get an inferior phone that has this one extremely visible feature users have been begging for since the introduction of the notch.

I will be SO annoyed if that happens. But it feels exactly like something apple would do.

Whatever. I'm getting the 17 Pro Max. Screw this slim phone.

Apple sure is dedicated to having four new models (minus the SE). They tried Mini, they tried Plus (both the least popular phones in the lineup), now they're trying Slim. I think it makes sense to have the fourth option be the flagship. It's weird to have "Max" not be the highest-end, though; that's kind of what it means.

"Oh, you bought the Max? You thought that was the Maximum? Well, what if you could have...SLIM?" 🤨

If the “Slim” has similar dimensions and weight to the 6S Plus, a lot of people are going to want it even if it doesn’t have the highest specs

This sounds like some Gurman nonsense. Apple is so big into cameras; there’s no way their flagship is going to have less cameras. Four cameras maybe, but 2 is ridiculous.

Yeah, so far these rumors are saying "the Slim is going to be the new bigger low-end model, but it's also going to be the flagship". What?

I think a key piece of the rumor is missing here.

The pricing feels like canary trap info to find the leaker. It makes no sense to position a non-Pro chip, 8GB RAM, dual rear cameras, aluminum, and a smaller display as something more expensive than Pro Max.

Even if Slim has an under display camera and Face ID, nobody is paying $1,299 for that.
I will pay anything to eliminate the damned Dynamic Island. It’s a joke of an appearance which I can’t stand. Waiting patiently for any upgrade that eliminates ridiculous decisions taking away from the viewable area. A hole punch camera is the most I want to deal with. The island is basically no better than the notch.

A "dual dear" camera system... finally the days of only being able to capture a single dear in each photo will be gone

JUST GIVE ME THE NEW IPHONE SE 4 WITH THE WHOPPING 48 MP CAMERA FOR $499 AND I AM A HAPPY CAMPER.

So less display=more in price?
iPhone X had a brand new design and sure the display size was big on spec sheets but the physical size of the phone was smaller than the 8+. I wouldn't be surprised if the 18 series introduced a bigger sized of the rumored "new" design, like the Xs max was just a bigger iPhone X

I will forever be amazed that Apple, known for its amazing products and even quality tv ads, still lets marketing come up with confusing product names.

Apple should make a YouTube type of service for creators, and offer a bundle for AppleTV+, the YouTube service, and Apple Music for a reasonable price. I was hoping YouTube would keep their own subscription service but surprisingly they backed out.

Sitting this year out, happy with my 15 Pro Max, but the 17 Slim makes no sense as an upgrade. Dual cameras, smaller display, less RAM. Who put this info out??
