Which issue do you mean? Clicking lenses or hissing sound? 17 is a brand new camera. Have the same hissing sound on a 15PM and a IPhone 14.Testing 16 Pro and 17 Pro and the issue is only with the new 17 Pro. But maybe some software glitches?!
Rattling Click. Never had this kind of sound with a 15 or 16Pro. Something different.Clicking lenses or hissing sound?
Rattling lenses of the camera unit is off is quite normal. As mentioned above: This is a completely new camera.Rattling Click. Never had this kind of sound with a 15 or 16Pro. Something different.
I would say it’s abnormal. I tried a few phones at the store. None had it. It’s loud enough to be heard from 1 meter away in a silent room. I could even feel the vibration (not haptic)Rattling lenses of the camera unit is off is quite normal. As mentioned above: This is a completely new camera.
That’s very loud, I agree.I would say it’s abnormal. I tried a few phones at the store. None had it. It’s loud enough to be heard from 1 meter away in a silent room. I could even feel the vibration (not haptic)
Anyone have a short test video they could link that has the hissing sound in the video? This wouldn't bother me, until posters said that recording video also records the hissing sound.
That's not good.
How do you reproduce this issue on the Air?I currently have a 15PM, an Air and a 17P, and all thee of them do it. Clearly normal.
A loud or faint sound on the camera app. Could be the lens stabilizer starting its‘On my iPhone 17 Pro Max (256 GB, deep blue) I have a clicking sound (following by a very faint crackling-like sound) when tapping the display to turn the screen on (probably related to Face ID). I also have a clicking sound when launching the camera app and when switching between lenses.
Good catch! And since most of us started using the phone after this update, we wouldn’t be aware of the pre-update status of this issue either.I’m hoping it’s software related as it was not doing it out of the box; it only started doing it following the update to iOS 26 (23A345), which would explain why it only seems to be the Pros that are affected as that day one update was specific to those models, see this link
My 17 Base has it and I bought it yesterday. Today I noticed that were was an update available (has to be the same as the one you posted). No change. Before and after the same issue.I’m hoping it’s software related as it was not doing it out of the box; it only started doing it following the update to iOS 26 (23A345), which would explain why it only seems to be the Pros that are affected as that day one update was specific to those models, see this link
What click sound?I’m more worried about the front Face ID click sound
Well each time I use my phone and Face ID is required, like bank apps or juste when I tap the screen to unlock it, I hear a faint click sound/noise. It’s quiet but I can hear it clearly if in a silent environment or if I put my hear by the front speaker when turning on the phone. People have reported it here and on Reddit too but don’t know if it’s normal or not..What click sound?
Some people are having this FaceID issue and have installed beta version 26.1 and have reported that the sound has disappeared. So we'll just have to wait for the release of the beta version.Same problem on my 17PM. The back camera is there but it’s the stabilizer, I’m more worried about the front Face ID click sound
I understand that it could be the stabilizer, from what I understand the technology that produces this is called OIS, but a senior Apple official has told me that these sounds are not normal, others say they are. The only thing I know is that I came from a 13 Pro Max and I don't get any sound. Phones like Samsung and Google that use the same (as far as I understand, correct myself) have the same system and no sound is heard when opening the camera, or at least if you hold it far away. So I don't know what to think, now that it has been reported that the FaceID sound has been fixed with version 26.1, I have hope that the rear camera sound can also be fixed or at least that it is less audible.Same problem on my 17PM. The back camera is there but it’s the stabilizer, I’m more worried about the front Face ID click sound
No, still present on latest 26.1 developer beta. 17 Pro Max.Good catch! And since most of us started using the phone after this update, we wouldn’t be aware of the pre-update status of this issue either.
Edit: Has the 26.1 Beta fixed the issue ? Just curious.
