I'm really wondering how this will play out.

Many people take advantage of trade in programs through their carriers, so will there still be offers for trade ins that cover the entire cost of the new phone will bill credits?

And, will Apple still drop the price of the prior generation iPhone? Or will it stay the same? Or will it increase?

It will be funny if come September, we continue to get reports of long lines and iPhones being out of stock and realise that the price hikes have done nothing to blunt demand for them. 🙃
I can't remember the last time there were "long lines" for anything, but I have noticed that new products recently take much longer to start having extended delivery dates. Used to happen within hours, now it seems like it's a day or two for shipping times to lag.

As far as "out of stock", that largely depends on how many of a product Apple has made, and not so much for demand. Apple can purposefully cut short the initial inventory to make it look popular that it "sold out" so fast.

Customer: Why is the iPhone 20 $1,999?

Apple: Because it has our most advanced technology ever.

Customer: What technology?

Apple: The ability to make your salary disappear in 0.2 seconds.

That will be seen if carriers still offer free devices. They’re not going to take a hit in profit indefinitely, though. They’ll adjust. Device upgrades aren’t really ‘free’ either.

My 15Pro still works great and battery lasts all day where I am running short is storage and the scary part if I upgrade to 512 it will be expensive.

It is not even tempting to buy even their cheapest editions which almost look like iPhone X all along (which had better material and aesthetics than the last few editions. The price point is getting ridiculous since iPhone 12-13 onwards and now people are not even thinking about buying mobiles unless the mobile itself is physically damaged and not working. I was thinking of replacing my iPhone 15 Pro Max 512 GB with iPhone 19 Pro Max or 20 Pro Max. But I am sure I will be priced out. I hope Huawei will be available in my country or I have to go with Xiaomi Ultra editions

Judging by the mega trucks I see in my town, it seems like people love huge monthly payments, so I’m sure they will continue to pony up for a huge monthly payment on their cell phone bill to get these phones.

Apple doesn't make the memory modules that is used in their silicon. Direct your anger towards Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron.

Shoutout to the holdouts that will buy my old phone at a premium instead of a new phone at a premium.

The iPhone Air started at 1.199€ and is now at 809€. It lost almost 1/3 of its launch price. The 17 Pro is now at 1169€ compared to 1299€. It seems if people think that something is bad value even Apple has problems selling it. If this would be true for an even more expensive 18 Pro / Max remains to be seen. In the end Apple wants to make money, and Mac sales were down last time around so it was clear that a price increase was imminent. In the end, maybe we will see more people switching to Android (I highly doubt it but let's see), maybe the Q1 2027 earnings report will be once again the best ever with even more iPhones sold, only time will tell.

And I agree with you. DRAM and NAND producers are basically known for price arrangements and now there is again something in the air with them all cutting production at the same time. -> https://videocardz.com/newz/samsung-sk-hynix-and-micron-sued-over-alleged-dram-price-fixing

The biggest myth is most people actually wanting SIRI AI. Apple can't even get their spell check rights.
