Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would explain my current situation:

I was on a ZiPhone unlocked iPhone running version 1.14 on a non-iphone O2 contract.

I attempted to manually load the .ipsw file after renaming it from .zip - this resulted in an error message. I looked in my Trash for the original .ipsw.zip file and loaded this one. Once again I got an error message. So..

I restored my 1.14 back to a clean 1.14. This to my suprise didnt require any jailbreaking or any activation with o2. Just my itunes user details.

I then manually loaded the renamed .ipsw.zip (now just .ipsw).

After about 15-20mins I got the same activation screen as before, nothing to do with o2, just itunes authentication.

I am now running an iPhone with my o2 contract.

As far as being unlocked and jailbroken, i dont really care because it works - its not bricked, and i can access all the new features and still make calls.

Hope this helps.

People. The new firmware has been out for an hour. Don't update to 2.0 if your phone is unlocked. It will be locked again. I figured this would be common knowledge, but humanity never fails to amaze me beyond my wildest imagination.

so

anyways, im upgrading my iphone. doesn't matter if it gets locked. my local service provider sux big time.

just performed the update... it took 6 min to download the ispw and 15 min to install it... works like a charm!

Clock reset

The update is working nicely but it appers to have reset my iphone clock (in the bar) to cupertino time. Living in the uk this is a bit annoying. Any bright ideas about how to reset it?

install went successfully, updated ok, connect to app store phone

i am in the UK, with a UK iphone/02 account and UK iTunes account - getting a "Can only be used with the UK store" error

might this be the UK firmware only?

i am still waiting... been like 15 for me so ye :(

I was in the beta program for testing the iphone with my corp. Yeah the updates take a while. Do not do anything. Let it finish. It might look like it(itunes) isnt recognizing the devise. But just give it time to boot up, restart and boot again. You will be fine.

Playing with fire....

...and people are going to/getting burned.

I was tempted to download and install the MobileMe update last night but did not. Then I was tempted to to do the same with this iPhone update but have not.

Remember everybody, Apple will give us what we need ,WHEN we need it. If it's not available in the Software Update app or iTunes than I'm not going to bypass them just in case of issues. I really don't want a $322.92 (not including every penny paid to AT&T since last September when I activated this iPhone) paper weight.

Your phone should automatically receive the time from your service provider... which I'm assuming is O2?

Yep, same for me here in UK. 2.0 update only works with O2 SIMs but works with any O2 SIM.

the ability to take screen shots nativaly = fooking cool.

you can then send them to Sketches and annotate as you please.

Who cares about Installer, the problem is the sim. I have a sim of an official carrier, will it work?

Downloaded with Billyware, shift clicked the check for updates and browsed to my download. No issues, took a good amount of time but it works perfectly.

I can't find any voice dial apps? I thought I read one would be available?

Please clarify: you had an unlocked iPhone running 1.1.4, unlocked, but on an O2 SIM that wasn't an iPhone O2 SIM. You updated to the 2.0 firmware, and you got the activation screen on the iPhone, but when you went through the activation process, it let you in?

Please confirm this is what you did and you're on 2.0 now. It's a big deal, and will help out a lot of people if you could confirm this. Thanks!

Iphone 2.0

Hello All

I have a 1.14 iphone that I had flashed the baseband and unlocked with pwnage 1.1. I restored my phone back to 1.14 and recently update to 2.0 with the link provided on macrumors. I flashed my phone using itunes 7.7. I am a ATT customer. After applying the update I am now running 2.0 with apps store. It did relock my phone which I don't care since I am on ATT. My phone is working great just so you guys know it works. I had previously had a jail broken phone. I went back to 1.14 before updating though.

:)
