2.0 is working
Push Email is working
Applications are working and downloaded directly via the App Store Icon. I had some on my iTunes but they wouldn't sync. Deleted them. No worries there.
Remote is amazing!!! Am using it right now.
Incredible feature. Star Trek stuff!
I'm on o2 on a contract. Locked phone

To all those with Jailbroken (i.e. non-official) iPhones: don't apply this firmware update!! . You will be able to update the firmware, but you won't be able to activate or make calls on it. You'll have to wait for the iPhone hacking team to release an update to their hacking software before you'll be able to activate/jailbreak it again.

Also, if you're not using an 'official SIM', you won't be able to make calls on it either (again, until an unlocking tool is released). SIM unlocking is what took the time for the dev team to do before, so don't expect it to be ready any time soon for firmware 2.0.

The G3 phone will be released "unlocked"in Belgium, does this mean that I can update my iPhone G2 to 2.0 without any risks?

My mail.app is broke. Something to do with the settings. I cant remove my accounts or anything. Anyone else have this problem?

Funny... when Safari downloads the Firmware, it unzips it into a folder that iTunes can't read or recognize. But when Firefox downloads it, all is well.

Strange.

Airport Express

Can anyone confirm if Apple released an application to remotely control your itunes? I'd seen the headlines that they were doing this, but I want to know if it's available in the app store now. If it is, I may have to pickup an Airport Express on my way home from work. :)

I successfully downloaded and was running the iPhone update manually, but it was just sitting there saying "preparing iPhone" for about 20 minutes. I eventually disconnected it and now have to restore it to 1.1.whatever.

How long does this thing take to install? I have to go on a business trip in about 2 hours and I obviously need my phone to be operational!

Downloaded with Billyware, shift clicked the check for updates and browsed to my download. No issues, took a good amount of time but it works perfectly.

I can't find any voice dial apps? I thought I read one would be available?

I was reading some comments on that on a thread a few days ago. Some thought Apple wasn't going to allow it. AT&T has a premium add-on service fee for them to provide that through AT&T. That could be an agreement between Apple and AT&T which could be an obstacle. So, who knows. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

hmm... i got it installed... but now it says the capacity is only 7.08gb........

iPhone OS 2.0 takes up more space than 1.1.4 ergo you are left with less space.

Also, you always lose around 10% of your total memory for formatting instructions etc.

...and people are going to/getting burned.

I was tempted to download and install the MobileMe update last night but did not. Then I was tempted to to do the same with this iPhone update but have not.

Remember everybody, Apple will give us what we need ,WHEN we need it. If it's not available in the Software Update app or iTunes than I'm not going to bypass them just in case of issues. I really don't want a $322.92 (not including every penny paid to AT&T since last September when I activated this iPhone) paper weight.

Nonsense. Running 2.0 currently!

When I was downloading the update it seemed to be downloading as a zip and I was like okay because I was reading if it was .ipsw.zip I would just have to remove the .zip. Well it ended up downloading as unzipped and it had to .dmgs.What should I do? I already bought apps via iTunes! I can't wait til tomorrow! I am running a Mac btw.

Yip! It's the top free app - called 'Remote'.

And it's very VERY good!

Please clarify: you had an unlocked iPhone running 1.1.4, unlocked, but on an O2 SIM that wasn't an iPhone O2 SIM. You updated to the 2.0 firmware, and you got the activation screen on the iPhone, but when you went through the activation process, it let you in?

Please confirm this is what you did and you're on 2.0 now. It's a big deal, and will help out a lot of people if you could confirm this. Thanks!

Yes, that's exactly what happened for me. I bought an iPhone off eBay which was ZiPhone unlocked/activated. I used it with both T-Mobile UK and O2 UK SIM cards fine.

After installing 2.0 it did this...
- with T-Mobile SIM in, iTunes said SIM not from valid carrier (or such words)
- with old (not the one that came with the iPhone) O2 SIM it just wanted iTunes username/password for activation.

Now after iTunes activation the O2 SIM works and the T-Mobile one doesn't.

Hope this helps.

People. The new firmware has been out for an hour. Don't update to 2.0 if your phone is unlocked. It will be locked again. I figured this would be common knowledge, but humanity never fails to amaze me beyond my wildest imagination.

This is true. I am only asking about jailbreaking because with pwnage, they claimed that is would jailbreak all firmware, including the new one. It is common sense abuot locking/unlocked phones....and i laugh when i see those posts. I guess i am in the minority with an AT&T phone who wants to jailbreak, but from reading on here and MMi, pwnage doesnt work yet, just used now as a tool to downgrade if you need to.

Papa Lazarou, To fix your time just go to settings, general, and then Date and Time, then set it to your local uk time

Cheers supermunki. Working nicely but seems a bit lagging in places especially when trying to move icons around and delete icons.

read the thread from start or use firefox to download

My iTunes has been "Updating iPhone Firmware" for close to 20 min now. How long does this take? Should I disconnect?

Edit:
Never mind, as soon as I hit "post" it restarted!
