iPhone 2.0 Firmware (5A347) Available Early

Can Not Restore Help

I got that can not restore iphone unknown error message (20). All I did was hit alt and click on the restore button, re-installed the download of 2.0 software and now my phone is back up and running and cruising the app store!!!

I'd try pressing Alt or Control.

Just asks for activation so that doesn't work but here are the steps I tool and the problem I encountered.

1.Tried to install 2.0 using itunes 7.6.2 - didn't work
2.Installed itunes 7.7
3.Installed 2.0 no problem
4.Not able to activate
5.Tried to restore back to 1.1.4 - got error code 20?
6.reinstalled itunes 7.6.2
7.Tried to restore to 1.1.4 -got an error
8. Reinstalled itunes 7.7
9. Tried to restore 1.1.3 - Error
10. Restored to 2.0

I can ONLY restore it to 2.0 now...I can't restore to ANY other versions... :(

Any ideas?

You tried to install a legit 2.0 onto an unlocked iPhone? (Correct me if I'm wrong, but...) What did you expect?

You'll probably have to wait until 2.0 is jailbroken in order to downgrade or stay unlocked. I'm going to guess 2.0 will be hacked in a few days to a week.

mine updated earlier today...guessing until mobileme is back online this isn't going to work???

I'm going to have to agree. I commend your courage, but think your out of luck till the Devs release something. Keep us posted though and good luck!

Press Shift key while clicking on Check for Update.
 
Works great!

I updated my iPhone to firmware 2.0 without any problems. The process was quick and easy similar to previous firmware upgrades. I've downloaded like 9 apps and they all work great except FaceBook won't let me log in yet (sever down error). The update also added a contacts icon to the menu. Don't remember reading anywhere that they we're adding this feature.

I've tried to connect to the exchange server at my school without any luck. I think the problem is on the school's end not the phone's as they've been updating stuff all summer.
 
Video Podcasts now scale

I have several video podcasts that I listen to that were not sized correctly for the iPhone. In the past, they played audio-only. Now the video is scaled to fit. This is good and bad as you cannot switch away from the video and still listen to it. Some of those videos were just fine to listen to without the video.
 
802.1x working

Connected on the office network using 802.1x. WiFi at home and work now. I think that will keep me from feeling the need for 3G too badly.

Couldn't QuickTime strip the video off of the file and give you an audio-only version? You could probably use Automator to create a workflow to do this.
 
Firmware not selectable???

I've read about 12 pages and couldn't any info on this...

I've downloaded the firmware on 3 occasions with three different browsers. The extension is fine: ipsw
Downloaded iTunes 7.7

When I double click the firmware...iTunes turns on but does nothing.
When I click option+check for update and look for the file.....I see it but it's greyed out and is not selectable in iTunes.

Anyone else having the same problem?

BTW I have 1.1.4 ATT not jail broken. Thanks.
 
having a real issue with the 'amazing' itunes remote... can see the device, have got the code, type it into itunes on the correct page and it just beeps loudly at me! How rude!

Anyone else having similar problems? (7.7)

Works great here, can control the AppleTV & iTunes separately and it's GREAT.

I can't even get my the remote recognised in itunes. Its not popping up on the devices bit. Any ideas?
 
another few tidbits ive noticed...
when i sent my self an email in gmail using fetch it checked after just 4 minutes instead of 15 like the settings say?? slightly pushy i feel?? there are now also arrows along side the folders in mail.

also...
there is a new logo/icon for GPRS/EDGE, a rectangle with a dot in it.
 
Anyone else's iPhone being backed up EVERY time you sync it?

Everything seems to work, but the backup takes a while. Doesn't seem right. How can I downgrade to 1.1.4??

Yep... painfully slow! to get it back i would assume you simply restore?? maybe too simple for my beloved apple though?
 
I click the link to download the new 5A347 firmware and i don't get any file with .zip or .ispw, only .dmg and .plist any ideas?
 
I just updated and now my iphone is syncing my library, but I noticed on the info screen in itunes that the capacity now says 7.08gb, i don't remember what it said before. did this happen to anyone else?
 
AIM not working....

Is AIM supposed to be working?....or do i have to wait until this update is officially released?
