Damn it. I was hoping the official release would be out sometime today.

I wonder what is going through the minds at Apple as they watch and see all these people using 2.0 without their official release.....

EDIT: Yeah...... #1000...... good timing.....

AIM.ipa is working fine for me. Everything is where it should be and I'm able to send/receive IMs.

That's odd. All of my data/content synced and my visual voicemail is where it should be. You might need to re-enter your voicemail password.

hmmm...idk then because when i try to sign in i get an error message saying that my Apple ID or AIM screenname cannot be found or the password is wrong. But the password is correct.i was able to sign in on AIM on my PC.

I installed 2.0 from the link @ the top of the thread earlier today. Like some, everything works find, but it's a little pokey. Such is the price for d/l an unofficial version. I'm glad I did.

With that out of the way... IF the official version is a different build will iTMS recognize a lower build of the same version and ask if the user wants to "update" to the higher build? Or will we have to do a manual update again?

Works on my Nokia N95 !

Only problem is that stupid windows logo shows on the screen when I power it up.

CALENDAR HAS MULTIPLE CALENDARS NOW!!!

Sorry about the caps, but I thought this was one of the biggest flaws with iphone 1. Wow, I just keep on loving this thing.

I apologize if this has been discussed (as it likely has), but I don't want to read all 40+ pages of this thread.

I tried to install the update and got an error:

The iPhone "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000004).

Can someone help me with this? I'd love to start using 2.0!

edit: Now I am getting a different unknown error (5) that makes me restore every time.

Unzipping on Safari

Safari automatically unzips it without me doing anything. I couldn't re-zip it and re-name. I'm re-downloading it through Firefox. It looks like it will work, but the download is much slower now (150KB/sec)

You could stop that by going in the toolbar of Safari to Safari-->Preferences-->General--> and then unclick the usually checked box for "unzip 'safe' files" or something like that....

But then again, they removed the download link...

Can you please tell me what steps you took in an attempt to install the software. Also, did you download the file with safari or firefox?

I believe you are having this issue because you are trying to upgrade from an iTunes version other than 7.7. Download 7.7 and try again.

Okay... so here's my latest

I removed the iPhone from the dock after 4+ hours of the same thing (no progress being shown on the Updating iPhone Software screen) and force quit iTunes. The iPhone had shifted to showing the usb cable connection with the iTunes icon above it and still showed that when I removed it from the cradle. I pressed and held the power and home button until the iPhone restarted. The screen still showed the same image.

I placed the iPhone back into the cradle and it indicated it was found, iTunes launched and attempted to connect to iTunes. Then the error message "the ipod update server could not be contacted". So I removed the iPhone from the cradle again and quit iTunes.

This time, I double clicked the file I had downloaded and iTunes launched and indicated that there was a problem with the iPhone software and prompted me to click restore. I have done that and am about 20 minutes into the restore process. I saw several intial screen where it was preparing the iPhone. Now it is on the Restoring iPhone software screen and I am once again waiting patiently (at least for an hour). After that I truly may panic. Especially since no on here seems to be suggesting anything at this point. Sucks... truly sucks. I can't believe I decided to try this before the "official release" tomorrow. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!!!

Hmmm, if the iPhone has been selling in New Zealand because it is the 11th there, then shouldn't the iPod Touch have the 2.0 upgrade for the 11th?

I suppose the App store is up on the 10th (like it said it would be) so that all iPhone 2.0s (I'm not calling it 3g. What would we call the next generation then?) can use it out of the box. While the US may have iPhone/iPod touch parity by releasing (officially) 2.0 at the same time New Zealand discriminates.

BOYCOTT KIWI FRUIT!!!

I am actually using 7.7. I downloaded it this morning, though I did get an odd error message during the install (sometime after it told me to close iTunes, which had been running). When I opened it back up, though, it all seemed to be in working order, with the Applications library in the left-hand menu, and About iTunes saying it is version 7.7 (43).

I downloaded the software update in Safari. It didn't unzip (strangely), and I changed the extension from .ipsw.zip to .ipsw. I held down the option key when I pressed "Check for Update," it extracted the software, prepared the phone for the update, and then erred out.

Any ideas?

It took about 20 minutes to get my phone to restore into 2.0 too. But 4 hours is rather ridiculous.

Best of luck...

I'm doing something particularly silly... I'm downloading it, but I'm too cautious to install it. Even though I really want it.

ditto. deleted the .zip portion of the file name but it's only sitting in my downloads folder. i have no intention whatsoever of installing until i can do it straight from apple through itunes the way they want me to.

i think i may have royally ****ed my iphone!!

hint for people, do not try jailbreaking using 1.1.4 ziphone, 100% stupidity.

my iphone WILL NOT restore into anything!! grr..

if i finally get 2.0 working, is there anyway to revert back to 1.1.4?????

please help!

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this yet, but I restarted my phone sometime after installing the 2.0 update, and now the apps I downloaded from the App Store (including the $9.99 Super Monkey Ball) no longer work!. Not a single downloaded app will work now, they all crash upon launch. I have not found a way to fix this.... ugh. That's life on the edge, I guess. Just a warning!:(

Same exact problem here, haven't been able to figure it out.

Phone firmware 2.0 Bluetooth connectivity problems...

Hey all,
Installed firmware 2.0 this morn...all seemed smooth until i noticed it would no longer connect to my uConnect hands free setup in my 08 Dodge RAM 2500, non-Mygig stereo. Previous 1.1.4 worked flawlessly. Its says paired, but the bluetooth icon does not highlight anymore, and it does not say 'connected' like before....

Anyone else noticed any bluetooth/handsfree pairing problems???

I've tried re-pairing from scratch about 4 times, using different PIN #s, to no avail.

Pairing will complete, but the phone no longer connects. =(

I'm hoping to score a 3G tomorrow, so we'll see if the same is true?

Any info appreciated...

spoke to soon, am now in 2.0, hoorah..

does anyone know of any way i could get back into 1.1.4 from 2.0?????
