.Although I had no problems downloading or installing the 2.0 software update I have noticed some strange occurrences.
First off, what is with the Contacts widget? I've got my contacts in the phone widget as well so there really is no need for it. Not only that but you can't uninstall it, only move it to another page. I hadn't read or seen anything about this being included in 2.0 and it makes me wonder if this is not actually the final release.
I heard this somewhere else too, we will have to wait and see. Personally this wouldn't be so bad, I have found it annoying sometimes to go into the phone app to get to my contacts for several reasons
My phone is running warm. I haven't had it off the dock for long enough to see if this is a battery drainage issue yet, but the last time I noticed this (when I first got the phone), it was. It required me to restore the phone and load everything back on after that it worked fine. I guess I'll find out after I'm at work for a while.
Push doesn't seem to be working for me. But Mobile Me has been down all day so I haven't been able to visit the website to tinker with any settings.
Side note - What is going on with Mobile Me, it was suppose to be up by now, what kind of problems are they running into?
MobileMe is down from what I am gathering. Not sure what problems they are having, but I am sure it will be up and running soon just keep checking back.
Also push isn't going to be up until September. I can't remember if this was for MM as well, but it is for other apps.
I think that's it so far, the apps are working great, so far the Remote and AIM are my favorites. Super Monkey Ball is fun but hard to get used to, I keep falling off the edge, but I kind of suck at video games anyway, and that's not the phone's fault.
The remote looks cool, but what makes it so appealing that everyone is raving over it?
Anyone notice that the iPhone UI is sluggish after the update?

Actually, dozens of people have causing many to believe this may not be the final and official release. Unfortunately i think i've read nearly all one thousand comments to know this.
Application push was the only one not working till September. Reports last night were of push for MobileMe working on users with advance copies of 2.0..

It actually wasn't in the trash, thats the first place I checked.
I feel like I've read all 1000. But you could be on to something. Could be that the 2.0 we're using is a late internal/beta. I guess we'll know... soon.
Well someone here has been claiming to have intimate knowledge about this being a very-internal-only build that wasn't even designed to run on the first-gen Phone.
An easy way to find out would be for someone in a country that has them on sale to confirm the GUI sometimes feels sluggish and that the system occasionally crashes.

You're wrong about the Push features... the Push for calendars & contacts and such is working TODAY. I've tested it bi-directionally going from my Mac to my iPhone and iPhone to Mac. It works now.
The Push to 3rd-party-applications feature is what isn't going to be turned-on until the fall.
Do you have an Apple TV or use your iTunes library to stream to a Airport Express? If so then you'll understand the appeal of the remote appI find it INCREDIBLY convenient to use the search feature to find the exact TV show, movie, or song that I am looking for instead of scrolling through VERY long lists in the Apple TV interface.
Couldn't there be gen-1 and 3g specific software files? If this is the case, sold 3g iPhones may not be sluggish while gen-1 phones using this pre-release 2.0 are sluggish.
I have 2.0 working with unlocked UK 8Gb handset (iLiberty 1.5.1). Would not work with T-mobile SIM but does with O2 SIM. Worked with both at 1.1.4.
However, cannot get Wifi to work !
It's likely that almost all of the files are identical, except for system drivers which will be specific to the model of phone used... but if this is a pre-release version of the firmware then it seems plausible that some of the debug stuff has been left on, that certain optimizations haven't been enabled, or that last minute bug fixes haven't been implemented.
I doubt there will be two entirely different download packages for the two phones (though notice this one did describe the iPhone as 1,2 while all previous ones were 1,1 I hear) - but more likely both packaged within a single larger package and then installed as needed.
