Congratulations?

Take this where it belongs. Its been known that 2.0 has been broken nothing new.

I posted this because someone from UK had asked observed same problem (only O2 SIM working on unlocked UK phones) and was asking if anyone else had come across it.

Anybody with Wifi problems ?

Maybe you should look at the thread title and get out of the thread if you don't want to see discussion on the 2.0 firmware.

Good point. It would at least be helpful to know if 3g users are using this version of the firmware or even if they find it sluggish.

Any help from the mates down under?

Is the UK doing a midnight launch? If so the first few customers should be showing up soon.

Tinkering with clock

Did anyone in North America try resetting their time zone to Australia's to see if this triggers the download. I already updated so it is too late to try.

i'm like so many of you and have read all 1000 posts....awesome that it's released early...but i hope it's not like the saying:

if it's too good to be true, it ain't that good.

let's hope and pray that this is the final released that will be packaged with the 3g.

someone in new zealand or australia or asia...

what's the firmware number on the 3g iphone...if someone would be so kind as to post so we all know.

Gonna ask again...

does anyone know when to expect the above mentioned?

no. and if someone did, and it was confirmed you'd probably see and article on the front page about it. the official release of the 2.0 has yet to happen and no one knows when that will happen.

Engadget says 5A345

so if we did the early release and we want to get the official tomorrow.. how would we go about that, because mine says "this is the newest version"

so when i click update tomorrow.. will it work or will i have to downgrade?

Depends, if this IS the official version then you have to do nothing. If the official version turns out to be a higher revision you'll just click update and it will be automatically installed. If it is a lower revision then in all likelihood you'll have to manually download it and install it in the much the same manner this one was installed.

Doesnt Work in Switzerland yet??

I have a jailbroken "old" iphone with 1.1.3
Whenever I go for update with the shift key, it shows me the 1.1.4
Do I first have to upgrade to the latter to have the 2.0 turning up?
Thx for any hints (beside waiting for tomorrow:):D

I installed the software and it worked perfectly for me didn't take as long as some people where saying.

Well here: http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/10/are-you-having-problems-with-iphone-2-0/ they say the version shipping on the iPhone is 5A345... so perhaps this one we're all playing with IS NOT the one that will be released tomorrow but in fact represents another branch of development for 2.0.1...

I realize it's been a long thread, but perhaps you should re-read the very first post. We knew this:

This build is slightly higher than the one of the latest iPhone Firmware Beta (5A345) which was also spotted on shipping iPhone 3Gs. Despite the filename appearing in the XML file, the actual firmware has not yet been released officially. As well, the firmware carries a "1,2" designation while all previous firmwares, including the beta firmwares carried a "1,1" number.

I understand you knew that, but several other people here have made the comment that having someone in a country where the iPhone 3G has already been released confirm this is the same build would be nice, and I was pointing out that it has been confirmed this isn't the same build as has been reported elsewhere (and I seriously doubt Apple has shipped and sold tens of thousands of iPhones 3Gs or more already and hasn't released 5A347 if it supposed to be a patch for something in 5A345)... so my guess is that 5A345 and 5A347 are different for some purpose, right?

I installed the new firmware successfully, but am curious to know if you guys have noticed the same thing I have. Every time I plug my iphone in now, it does a complete back up, whereas before it did not. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys for answering my question....

Got a bit confused with the semi-release of the iPhone update and thought it was just something that was wrong with my iPod Touch. It said when I updated to the new iTunes that the disk cannot be read or written on. !?!??!?!

It freaked me out a bit till I restarted my iPod and MacBook Pro.

In any event, me.com isn't working, most of the features aren't responding at all. I can't delete mails.

But I'm guessing the reason why they are pushing out some things today is to make sure that on launch day, they won't get hit by a massive crowed of people complaining about certain things we're experiencing now. They are probably burning the midnight oil at Apple HQ, just to meet Steve Jobs' deadline.

By the way, I hear that me.com doesn't work on IE anymore? Does this mean that people who are at any PeeCee computer which only has IE installed can't check their mails?

Hmmm, that's about 60-70% of PC users who're still using IE.

Anyway just thinking it would be a shame if it didn't work with anything but Safari.
