Nobody should really be worried about 2.0 - we know it's existing and functional, as it's on all 3G iPhones. Apple isn't releasing it officially until tomorrow. The MobileMe fiasco won't halt the release.

Not to mention the documentation (Readme and License) along with the update in the public update list make no mention of it being a developer release. SPX == troll.

if spx is wrong then how do you explain all the problems about crashes and sluggishness? When is the last time apple distributed a halfarse firmware for anything? It sounds pretty shotty so far.

Drat!

I just spent the last 30 minutes going through all the apps at the App Store, downloading interesting ones and whatnot, only to now realize stinkin' 2.0 hasn't been released yet!!

Frustrating. I want to play some Texas Hold 'Em on my iPhone. :)

2.0 Working Great!

I upgraded to 2.0 earlier today and it is working well. I like the new features, but wish there were a few more. Some of the apps are great, but many seem to be glorified bookmarks.

Thank you MacRumors for the tip about 2.0 it being available.

Be sure you update to itunes to 7.7 and do not let the download of 2.0 unzip automatically.

I can't explain it because I haven't seen it. No crashes, no sluggishness on my iPhone 4GB running 2.0.

Well, we all want the official version to try out apps (especially iPod Touch users). Also, tommorow is today now.

I don't think the problems are nearly as widespread as theyre being made out to be - I updated this morning and have noticed no problems. However, most of my use is on wifi, though I was successful when I was on edge.

Option-Click restore and select the 2.0 firmware. That'll at least get you out of restore mode.

Those who have installed 5A347 will be unable to change their firmware to 5A345 via the conventional method, iTunes. The reason being that as far as the updater is concerned, 5A347 is of the same version of 5A345 (2.0). Firmware version changes to 5A345 (production) on units that have 5A347 installed will have to be completed manually.
define manually.

Unofficial Quick Upgrade Guide

OK guys, I got 2.0 on my 2.5G iPhone, WONDERFUL!!!

So here is a little guide for those having issues:

*** 1st rule - You must back-up your data, then restore to 1.1.x***

*** 2nd rule - Download firmware 2.0 from here:

http://gizmodo.com/5023760/download-20-firmware-for-any-iphone-right-now You will see a link titled "Here" on this web page, make sure you right click the link and select "Download linked File AS". Save to your desktop. Once the file is downloaded, remove the .zip extension until all you have left is .ipsw, select the accept .ipsw extension window. ***

*** This worked perfectly for me, however, proceed at your own risk, especially if you're not savvy with computers or tech devices. I am not responsible if you have issues with your iPhone. This guide is simply there to help those who can't stand the wait and know what they're doing***

This is only for people with "Hacked" or stock iPhones, NOT "Unlocked" iPhones. Trying this with an unlocked iPhone will brick your phone. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

1. After you have a clean restored 1.1.x image, complete your back-up or at least get 1/4 to 1/2 way into it or you will get errors (Unknown error [1] for example).

2. If you don't want to complete the whole back up, stop your backup at about 1/4 to 1/2 way through, hold the option key, select Restore.

3. Now select the file you downloaded and renamed above.

4. Sit back and do something as it will take a while to complete the upgrade

5. Restore from the back up you made earlier

6. Enjoy!

No mocking ...

Both my tech guy and I upgrade to 2.0 around noon and everything is working well. I have experienced no bug or problems. The over-air sync was a little slow until it caught up with exchange, but everything else is good.

Not in Cupertino, if you're getting technical. And I don't think they're bound to the midnight deadline. They're really only bound to the launch deadline.

Perhaps a more interesting question is why are there so many folks (like me) that are having no problems what-so-ever? And, what did the folks that are having problems do different then those of us that don't have any problems?
