I did this earlier today

EVERYTHING works 100% (on my version 1, orignal) iPhone.

Already playing with a bunch of free apps, using it as my iTV remote, and more...

this is what we need to figure out.. i have a thread but no responses.. everyone and their brother has unofficial 2.0 we need to figure out how to downgrade to 1.1.4 so we can get official 2.0

As far as I know the 2.0 update isn't released. People are fooling around with some beta, or previous build version prior to the final release, I see no official link on Apple's website.

The question then is why do we have a higher build than do the official iPhones? Official is 5A345, this is 5A347...and one website seems to indicate they are the same thing...

Apple pushed this build (5A347) build onto the same XML file iTunes uses to check for updates. Apple would never let a beta enter a production environment for everyone to download.

There is no listed "official" build. From what I've seen on the XML files I believe 5A347 to be the "official" build with 5A345 being the previous build. Apple often makes a beta build the official build. I see it all the time with Leopard builds for developers. They are ( as the file states ) the same. The only difference may be the final readme and license rtf files that were updated prior to final release. And yes. Apple would never put a developer build in a public file.

We will see but it's my opinion that 5A347 is the final build for public consumption. And I can guarantee you the current internal build has probably surpassed 5A347 and gone on to 5A349 or 5A350 by now.

Hey, I'm no expert! Point is that there's no button or official link on the website that Apple has said "go on guys...upgrade", so who knows what you're playing with.

Like pfish says, the link was found in the iTunes software update XML. So the link has been seeded, but not let out of it's cage, so to speak.

It's Apple's iPhone OS 2.0 on Apple's publicly accessible server and you can use Apple iTunes to update your iPhone. It's very official. Apple just doesn't want people to upgrade until the iPhone 3G comes out.

Help

Any ideas.... I DL the update early but wanted to restore to 1.1.4 it gets to end of restore and tells me error and puts my phone in recovery mode and now wont recover any ideas ?

Success!

I did it! I went to gizmodo and downloaded the file there. It's working great and I am glad I didn't wait until tomorrow for the 2.0 to be available.

It's worth the bumps to install it.:D

Check the Screen shot

Hi Guys,

Did any one notice the screen shot of the Mobileme walk through. It clearly shows the phone version of 2.0.0 when showing the iPhone info screen. Its the the same for PC and Mac. Is it possible that the Jobster had predicted our over eagerness to download the unofficial version? What do you think?

Time of 2.0

OK... Now just a little under Five Hours until iPhone 2.0 Software Update (& iPod touch) will be available to download, if we assume that the update will arrive when the iPhone 3G is first available in the United States.

July 11th on the west coast and still nothing

The App Store didn't launch until after 2AM on the west coast this morning (Thursday), so I wouldn't expect the software to appear right at midnight. (Though iTunes 7.7 started to appear on Windows close to midnight)

when i search for the .ipsw, there are 4 different ones to choose from... which one?

You unzipped it. If you are on a mac and using safari use FF if you are using FF already dl it again and then don't unzip it then remove the .zip file. You should be good from there. Although I advise just waiting its bound to be soon

can't wait for super monkey ball on my touch..

Interesting, from the screenshots of some of the 3d games, the graphics power of these things seems to be just short of a Nintendo DS. Pretty impressive.

/edit: Honestly, from looking at these games, I don't know if I'll ever have reason to drag my PSP or DS out ever again. Apple's really outdone themselves with this thing, I'm really impressed.
