has anyone mentioned yet whether the 'security problem' of the locked phone is resolved? (ie hitting emergency call, etc)

Interesting, I've never seen that before. The only thing I can think those circles mean is that if it is a half-circle you have watched the video but not finished. If the circle is full then you have not even watched it yet. And if there is no circle at all you have watched and completed the video.
Just my guess.

Itunes 8 wanted to Restore my Iphone for some reason before...wouldn't even let me choose upgrade or anything...I chose Sure. It then proceeded to brick it. Just a spinning wheel over my home screen that is no longer spinning. Plugging into computer doesn't help.
Since you can't power it off manually (dumbest design flaw ever)...I have to wait for it to lose it's charge (how many hours does this thing do standby?)

restore didnt work
So I did a restore on the phone, while it was syncing and backing up and restoring 3g was working fine. Now that it is all done I am back onto full edge with no 3g. Ill check it out where i know i was getting full 3g before but I will probably be calling Apple on Monday to see if I have a faulty phone or what is going on. if anyone has any tips/suggestions I am all ears.

The blue bubble indicates a video that hasn't been viewed. The half filled bubble indicates a video that you've partially played through. No bubble means it's been played through entirely.

LMAO...Not much of a contribution, but thanks for the laugh.
I have noticed much better responsiveness throughout contacts/keyboard/etc. It still lags a bit when loading contacts at first (which I would expect initially), but once opened the lag within the app seems very much improved.
Overall, I'm glad Apple spent time improving performance and fixing bugs before releasing more possibly problematic/buggy features. When does 2.2 arrive?
Also, I think the Genius playlist is actually exteremly useful. I had my doubts, but am very happy with it. The Genius fetures within iTunes that shows missing music, etc, however still feels like a gimmick to get you to purchase more music. Comes across as more 'profitable' for Apple than 'useful' to users.

If you want to power off-hold the power button in until the "power bar" appears, 5-8 seconds seems like.
As for bricking-no such thing-put it in DFU mode and restore...
I still don't understand how a phone with 3.5 gigs of information on it, can take over 2 hours to back up, and it's still only halfway finished...

You can power it off, just press and hold the Home and Standy/Power button to shut it off/reset it.
I think the video icons are also more blurry than before. For some reason, none of my podcast artwork shows.
ha. my mom thinks so too, but many here beg to differ, as well they probably should.
Wow I couldnt wait to get home so I decided to update anyways with a work computer and lose my content. Since I dont have my music and things on my work computer. But I clicked on backup and it actually did a backup with content and restored with updated OS and restored with all content. NOW if it functions well then finally its a star performance again.

Those still having issues after the 2.1 update should indicate if they've jailbroken or unlocked their iPhones previously.
Iphone 3G 2.1 Update AudioBook doesn't Work!
I just updated my 3G with the 2.1 update and there is a glitch with the Audiobook tab with the iPod section. I tried to listen to one of my audiobooks under the Audiobook tab and everytime I select Audiobooks it takes me back to the main menu. I tried a resetting my 3G still don't work. I have a factory 3G
