is gmail true push now?
They never ever said it would be in this update. They only said it'd probably be available in September. Last I checked, there is still two weeks + left in September. Even if it doesn't get released before the end of the month, they didn't pinky promise or send everyone an email saying that it would def be available. It is not hidden in 2.1 either. If it was there and functional, I'm pretty sure they'd let everyone know.
I had the same..Just installing now..finally! I guess patience is needed![]()
Steve, up on stage in front of the entire Macworld crowd in January, did in fact promise us Application Push support in September.
Also, I think the Genius playlist is actually exteremly useful. I had my doubts, but am very happy with it. The Genius fetures within iTunes that shows missing music, etc, however still feels like a gimmick to get you to purchase more music. Comes across as more 'profitable' for Apple than 'useful' to users.

it's just one more failure in a long list of failures. Apple's inability to hit promised dates with products that are stable and production ready has been tragic.
The fact that it took them 3 months to release this update is testament to this.
Let's see now! Just what iPhone was missing after 14 months on the market, repeat alerts for SMS messages, bug fixes, and fewer crashes! Lightning fast backups, DEFINITELY a plus! My 3G iPhone now does a full backup in less than 1 minute, even with over 1200 songs, 5 movies, and 42 applications! Of the latter I am truly impressed! Who needs MMS, stereo bluetooth, a NATIVE documents viewer application, a decent set of default ringtones, or turn by turn audible GPS? Yet ANOTHER lackluster software update for a SPECTACULAR device! What a letdown!
Several of you have said your reception is better. Is it better for the Edge iPhones, for the 3G iPhones, or both? Thank you.

that's cool! Thanks for that. My phone changes from -83 to -97 here in the middle of Manhattan.
Very cool. Didn't know about this.
I get -63 to -66 here by the lake in Toronto, Canada.

We all love Apple on this forum, or else we wouldn't be here, but they've really been screwing up lately -- and I feel they owe all 3G owners who purchased a phone pre-2.1 an apology (maybe even iTunes App Store Credit? or another form of compensation?)
