On a iPhone original 8gig model with the 2.1 update installed.
Other differences between 2.0.2 and 2.1
1) Seems that back-to-back video-to-video playing in a playlist bug of the video slightly pausing while the music catches up when automatically moving from one video to another (like a playlist is supposed to do) is fixed. The subsequent videos in the playlist are no longer slightly pausing.
i.e. Metro Station Shake It video transitioning to Lady Gaga Just Dance video transitioning to Lloyd Women Around the World, etc.
2) Double tapping (or using the 'pointing at each other' arrows button) the video playback in portrait mode when the video is playing in a playlist seems to magnify the video a lot more than the 2.0.2 software. Magnification was always there in 2.0.2 and before with the 1.x series. Now it seems to magnify more. i.e. Metro Station Shake It video
3) Rotating the iPhone from portait to landscape when playing back a video in a playlist seems to be smoother. I detected a slight video pause when doing this in 2.0.2 when in 2.1 it doesn't slightly pause.
4) Video and/or audio playback does not pause anymore when docking and undocking to/from at least the iPhone Original dock. Have not tried this on wifie's 3G with the 3G dock nor either iPhone with the 2007 Universal Dock - all these docks have historically exhibited different behaviour.
Sometimes now with 2.1 vs 2.0.2, docking in a 3rd party device such as DLO Home Dock (original and second generation versions of the dock) automatically starts a song in the playlist. Not sure how if figures this out, sometimes it's just the first song in my entire library alphabetically. This part of the playback-in-a-dock seems like a new bug. I don't think in 2.0.2 I saw this, and I use that same dock all the time.
5) Bug I think I found. I have at least one duplicated calendar event that's duplicated on the iPhone but not in Outlook. This is corporate email Exchange server syncing turned on. Not sure what caused this. It may be confused since the meeting originator keeps sending updates (room changed, phone number changes, agenda changes, etc).
6) 'bug/nit' continues to occur in 2.1 as it did in 2.0 - when doing video playback via playlist, if you hit the home button, the video and audio stop. If just an audio track is playing in a playlist then it keeps playing when you hit home. This is unexpected since if you happen to have audio and videos mixed in a playlist, and you're playing audio and then hit home, the playlist continues to play and even music videos will play while on home if they come up in the playlist - you won't see the video, but the audio portion will play.
7) Bug I think I found. MS Corporate Exchange Server with PUSH turned on on the iPhone causes battery life to diminish very very rapidly (full charge to 10% in 2.5 hours of doing "nothing") - we're trying to determine if this is Email, Contacts or Calendar related. We think this is a special circumstance since other 3G iPhones we know of that don't have Corporate Exchange Server configured don't show this issue. This bug is duplicated with two different iPhones - my iPhone original with 2.1 and my boss's 3G with 2.1.
Several other forums and websites have people trying to figure this battery issue cause out, so we're not the only ones it seems.
