Why would you need to look at Street View from your current location, when you can simply look around reality?

I suppose you have a point but i was just checking different locations. What i mean would apply if i did a search for a "best buy" and wanted to see the street level at that best buy .. you cant. You would have to drop a pin next to the best buy pin just to see it, unless i missed something. Its nice they add things but never tell you what or how to use it. Is this a game? :)

I'm not gonna wade through 27 pages of posts, but what I have found far is:

The App Store now displays multiple screenshots, at full-screen resolution, no less!
Clicking on categories in the App Store allows you to sort by "Top Free", "Top Paid" and "Release Date" You can continue to display 25 more apps in the list until the list has reached its end. :D

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Woohoo for podcasts!!!

you have to drop a pin, then tap on it, on the left side you will see a icon. Why you cant just do it from you current location is kind of dumb.

Agreed.
Might be more efficient to have a separate button to activate SV.
Dropping a Pin and then activating SV seems an unnecessary step.
Still, very nifty feature.

Safari for me is a much more pleasant experience. The JavaScript based news ticker across the top of the BBC News web site previously brought Safari to it's knees leaving it slow to respond to input. Now the ticker is smooth and Safari behaves as it should.

Also typing within a webpage would often become very laggy for me, especially on the "post thread" pages of certain forums, now it's normal.

It looks like 2.x has finally matured.

You don't have to drop an extra pin after searching for Best Buy, the street view option shows up (if available) on the red pin the search itself drops.

i haven't read through all the comments but i found that in Mail, you can send email when only BCC field is filled, previous version can't, got to have an address in the To: field

Another New Feature in Calendar !

I work a lot of 6pm to 6am night shifts and now these type of events are easier to spot on the updated calendar.

Look at the image below, You can see that it says end above it to show that this is the end of an event that goes past midnight !

Very handy to me anyway !!!

Don't think that's new, I've had that on 2.1

Can anyone who HASN'T upgrade confirm this for me?

When tapping an App Store app on the home screen, it opens just as fast as a factory installed App. Here's what I mean. Tap an App Store app, it dims for a fraction of a second and then the app launches. Tap on SMS or Safari and it dims for the same amount of time. Previous to 2.2, App store apps would have a longer delay from when it started to launch (longer dim time on the icon). I noticed this lag on pre-2.2 and it seems to be fixed.

Hmmm. That's pretty cool...

Public Transit and Boston

Does the transit thing even work in Boston? Also, is there a way to find the closest transit stop to my current location?

It does not, which sucks, but that's not Apple's fault- It's the MBTA's fault.

Here is the link to google's list of what public transportation systems are covered by their system. (international too)

http://maps.google.com/transit

As you can see, Boston is missing.

They do have:
* Cape Cod, MA (Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority)
* Lexington, MA (Lexpress)
* Framingham, MA (MetroWest Regional Transit Authority)
* Pioneer Valley, MA (PVTA)

What really annoys me is that the opt-in is free, yet they still haven't done this.

I say we start calling them now!

The update went well, but when I check for updated applications, neither the phone or iTunes on my iMac will connect to the App Store to check for updates. It connects for everything else, but not the updates. Since it's a problem on both the iPhone and the iMac, I'm assuming this is an issue with the App Store. Anyone else seeing this?

Everything else looks good.

Yep, I'm seeing this too. Thought it was just me.

Possible explanation for missing iPod touch features

For those wondering why the new iPod touch 2.2 doesn't have the new features, here is a possible explanation from AppleInsider:

"Apple has also released a similar update for iPod touch users, however the accounting principles adopted by the company require that it charge for 'new feature' additions to the digital media player. As such, the iPod touch version of the software does not include the Google Maps enhancements and there's no word on when or how Apple plans to ultimately deliver those features."

GPS not working??

Have had no issues with GPS yesterday. After update to 2.2, Google maps and Instamapper can't get any location. I have restarted several times and toggled both location services and airplane mode. Anyone else having GPS issues?

God I hate apple some times, if they have to charge for it than so be it. Even though I think this whole thing is silly, but don't leave us out in the cold.

Backup

Wow. My backup has been going for about 1 1/2 hours and it is only halfway done. This is RIDICULOUS.
