iPhone 2.2 is out...

Not working for me either. Actually, not working in iTunes either. It was like this vvvv for the past couple of minutes, and then it just stopped without telling me if there are or aren't any updates for me.

EDIT: I finally got a pop-up that Updates Are Available for me. This was after it was Accessing iTunes Store for like 5 minutes. Now it's taking a while to get to the Updates screen.

I only looked because you mentioned it but yes. Much improvement. I always play with the speed test. Usually my broadband is 2,400 kb/s and my 3g is between 720 and 780. NEVER higher... even with full bars. Today I tested and it has Max speed of 1,370 and average DL speed of 1,343.... MUCH IMPROVEMENT... Upload speed still slow though lol, 196 kb/s (232 MAX)
 
NEW FEATURE:

When you play an MP3 online in Safari if you press the home button and go for your email or else, the mp3 still playing !

Before as soon as you closed Safari the player stopped !

Amazing now SEEQPOD makes sens ;)
 
wow the podcast streaming works really really well - i'm listening to this week in tech with leo laporte at work. What i don't get is why i can stream it vs download. if i stream the whole show isn't that = to downloading it (unless they assume i won't stream the whole show).

They might be reencoding the content when streaming so it takes up less bandwidth.
 
Does anyone else think this update should have been 2.1.1 instead of 2.2?

There improvements just aren't big enough to warrant the name "2.2" imho.

Not a big deal, just seems odd.:p
 
Do I D/L Podcasts over iTunes or iPhone?

I know the new iPhone software allows downloading of podcasts and I currently sync podcasts from iTunes on my Mac. Is it best to turn off iTunes syncing of podcasts from my Mac? Will there be a conflict if I also have my iPhone download podcasts?
 
does anyone think that apples updates to the iphone seems rather scattered. in this update they hit the app store then went over to google maps then changed Safari a bit then added the home button change. its all over the board. there doesn't seem to be a definite direction. So my question is what is their upgrade path - or - are they making it up as they go along to a certain degree?

Anyway, I'm not sure if I want to update...dunno what it would do in terms of testing applications...

I don't think that there will be a conflict. They should sync up once you sync your iPhone with iTunes.

No. Was not there on the iPhone. You could only write reviews for Apps in iTunes on a computer before this update.

Have you noticed by now, APPLE is a company after all and the ONLY reason were not getting those features is because they don't make them any money.

But the genius playlist, buying podcasts and new appstore features bring in more revenue. That is why they keep adding stuff to it and making it more appealing and more ways to spend money.

There will NEVER be VIDEO or MMS or Copy and Paste because APPLE doesn't profit from any of those features.

I have 2.1 and can write a review...

And I know I wrote a review on my iPhone when I first got it (3G with 2.0 [Where to? application])

Well if it will never happen, then its time to move on to a real device and not a toy. Specially if you plan to use it for work also, so that you carry one device. At the end of my contract with ATT, it will be time to move on. By then RIM and Nokia will have more than enough time to at least catch up with the toy parts. The have the business end all wrapped up already.

Not true at all.

What is the point of release a beefed up Maps app or Remote app? How does that make them any money at all?

Apple has taken a public stance against MMS and Copy/Paste - they'll probably change their mind eventually and come around...but who knows.
 
Where to disable auto-correction?

Anybody find the setting yet?? I can't figure it out. Help!
