iPhone 2.2 is out...

Bricked my ipod touch?

I upgraded from 2.1.1 on my 16 gig Gen 1 touch and it worked immediatly afterwards... I took it to the Gym and worked out no problems.. After coming home I put it down and went to dinner.. came back from dinner and now the screeen refuses to come on. I tried to hard reboot by holding the home button and the sleep toggle button. Nothing can bring it back.. If I plug it into power, I can hear the beep as it recognizes power attached. I plugged it into my desktop and iTunes recognizes the drive, but I cannot get the backlight to display anything or respond to reboot commands.. I think apple may need to re-evaluate this version as this unit has been great until this release of firmware..

I use street view in all the time. Some cities are better than others.

Thing is, The street view with the iPhone in Chicago is really very good.

It does vertical which I could never get on a desktop. As a matter of fact it is much more useful than on a laptop or a desktop (albeit, a tiny bit slower).

It's like it's made for the iphone.

Very clear.

I'm rather happy with it. :)

Connect to itunes, back up and restore your phone's firmware. That's the only thing you can do for now until you take it to the Apple store. Good luck cause that sucks.

In the middle of the restore as we speak.. The screen is back on, but my guess is this is a software bug and will eventually happen again.. God I hate syncing all the apps and music back :p
 
degraded saved picture quality

one thing ive noticed after this upgrade, is that photos sent from external email (i.e. google desktop) and saved are terrible quality in the photo folder.

(i.e. i send a photo from myself to my second email address, both of which are on the iphone. i then open the email on my iphone, save the image, and open in the photos folder. terrible terrible quality-regardless of quality of orignal image. never had a quality problem prior to this update.
 
Anybody else unable to delete email?

I installed 2.2 this morning and ever since then I've been unable to delete emails. When I delete them they disappear for a few seconds and then a message pops up that says "unable to move to trash" and they come right back. They're aol accounts (if that makes a difference). Anyone else experiencing this?

PS-Went to the Verizon store this AM and played with the Storm. It's got a few features I wish the iPhone had (MMS and video), but overall I wasn't sold...
 
so i expected a way to be able to connect to password protected podcasts. not all content out there is free and 2 that i subscribe to are not. however, i can't download them in this new release. what gives. anyone have any insight, am i missing something?

Damn, I thought I was the only one to notice that. I took some map screen shots and all of the small text is terribly pixelated.
 
2.2 killed my ipod touch 2g. i'll be up all night trying to resolve this error 1604. i'll probably wind up at an apple store tomorrow to have them look at it. i doubt the ipod touch update is worth all this trouble.

Export the file through iCal to the desktop as an .ics file, then reopen it in iCal and it'll show up as a non-subscription calendar. Name it like iPhone Birthdays or something so it's not the same as the other birthdays calendar. While it won't auto-update based on your address book contacts (the subscription one still will) it will sync through mobileme. It's not exactly an elegant solution, but it does work.
 
Calm down crackpots, I'm waiting for my push notifications too, but didn't it occur to you that the developers have to update their apps to include the new function? HEEELLLLOOO...
