Greek Petition

To: Apple

Dear Steve,

We are customers who bought 3G iphones for us and our families. We live in Greece, we speak and write greek. We also google in greek, use maps in greek, write mails and sms in greek, take notes in greek and have (!) contacts in greek. Why our iphones don't have greek keyboard support? Not menu, just a tiny keyboard in order to continue to communicate with our friends and family in greek?

ps.Please do not motivate us to jailbreak our phone. There is already a greek keyboard and menu for the jailbreak community.

Sincerely,
Konstantinos Partsinevelos :)

Voted negative. Very disappointing to see that pretty much nothing applied to the Touch.

Also disappointed by the new layout of Safari with the Google to the right instead of below the address bar.

Dear Konstantinos,

Thank you for your letter.

Normally, we don't reply to emails or letters that we receive. We just delete or throw them in the burn/shredder bin.

Here at Apple, we tell you what you need and want as far as Apple products go. If you're not happy with us or any of our products, we don't care. We have your money and that's all that matters. We will continue to get money from new Apple Customers every day because our marketing is so clever. Remember, we're Apple, we're omnipotent. We do what we want, when we want.

Konstantinos, continue your hard work in the olive garden. We really enjoy your olive oil and cheese very much.

Dear Neebee & Konstantinos,

We do care about Greece because they have olive oil which is something we need, and no, we don't care about Greek. Stop complaining, please There are so many countries don't even have iphone. For developing country like Greece, deal with it. If you keep complaining, we should just ship out iphone without any Greek input. English, please.

Another BS update....

IT'S (a) copy/paste, and (b) landscape keyboard in email and text, STUPID!

Move on people, nothing to see here.

Well if it will never happen, then its time to move on to a real device and not a toy. Specially if you plan to use it for work also, so that you carry one device. At the end of my contract with ATT, it will be time to move on. By then RIM and Nokia will have more than enough time to at least catch up with the toy parts. The have the business end all wrapped up already.

What? Surely you jest. LOL. I mean, Apple plus doing things to NOT make money? Shock (see no firewire in MB=screw the PRO), I made the argument about good graphics before, then I got a lot of, APPLE DOESN"T CARE ABOUT GAMING - well apparently they do - its the PRO (which I also argue) that they continue to screw over. Even though it's less than 1%, pathetic.

Regarding toy, I think that way sometimes. When in a rush and racing to get stuff done, lots of fast moving, finger pointing, dialing, go, go, go, the PHONE simply cannot keep up. I spend more time going to fast and then waiting for the phone to catch up, (hit hang up, then home, quick, then to dial pad, then contacts) and the OS is so slow, it normally opens the window, closes a window, opens the WRONG window, only to cause me to hit the home button again and again and having all the wrong windows open time and time again.

A cool phone but not for someone that is a speedster, east coaster on the west coast, trying to get stuff done rapidly - the phone just can't keep up.

Maybe someday.

Still a cool phone and still Apple screws with the PRO users.

Oh, and turn-by-turn navigation?

What's the f###ing point of the GPS?! Really?

R U Crazy? That's an Apple product all by itself, a iCar or iGPS.

Just like the Apple TV, no DVR, a waste of time.

YAY, I can see myself and help myself when lost but no turn by turn.

For those complaining about turn by turn, there is a FREE APP for typing sideways - called "EASY WRITER" hope that helps.

Time to move on...

I think I'm dropping the iphone after all this headache. It screws up Entourage still buggy the list goes on. APPLE needs to get their **** together.

When? In 2020? BS....

... For those complaining about turn by turn, there is a FREE APP for typing sideways - called "EASY WRITER" hope that helps.

Again, BS - I just want to SEND, not send-to-email. And I want to TEXT. And I want to cut and paste, like in some of the most primitive PDAs and cell phones.

Quit with the lame excuses.

Does anybody else have the same problem. Just installed update 2.2 and it seems like the auto brightness has a horrible bug. When you unlock the iPhone in a relatively dark room, the backlight comes on, but when you swipe the unlocking slider, the backlight switches off completely?? Resrarted the iPhone and problem still there?

I don't have quite the same problem in dim light, instead, when I unlock the phone the backlight stays on, but gets really, really dim. It's quite annoying. If I hold the phone under a lamp, it brings the brightness back up... and it stays bright until I put the phone to sleep, then wake it and unlock it again. With it being this dim, I feel like I'm going blind! At work, and home... nothing but dim light and now a dim backlight to go with it. Ugh.

I agree!

The Greeks have been taking it in the *ss for far too long! :D

Yes I want all the stuff you all complain about every time, but:

- Apps update all at once again and stay in the correct spot when installing.
- The app store is better now.
- Bugs have been fixed.
- Maps is much better.
- Podcasts can be downloaded.
- etc.

I'm happy that I have a phone that evolves for "free".

I have said it before, and I'll say it again... Apple will NOT include the BIG features everybody wants until iPhone OS 3.0! Mark my words!

got my replacement iphone and uploaded this asap. works great! i don't know if it's having a new phone or the 2.2 update, but it seems a lot smoother than before.

placebo-effect for certain

wtf are you talking about, I don't see any of these countries that don't even have iPhone paying 1000 euro for one. You think it's hard to have a programmer insert a new language just for the keyboard? It will take him 1 hour maximum.
Maybe you should think about other people who can't write SMS in their native language, store contacts or search the net using their native language.
It's a EU law that mobiles should ship with native language manual, menu and support. So selfish boy do us a favour and spare comments like "we don't care","you knew it when you bought it" etc.
How fun would it be if you couldn't write an SMS in english?

We are customers and demand our rights. Vodafone promised Greek keyboard support soon and it's been 3 months now. Doesn't seem too soon to me...

I think there may have been some sarcasim in that post, but I see your point... ;) :)

Well done Apple for at least bothering to give us an update.
Sure we would like a few more goodies but isn't that always the way !

Guys 38 pages of moaning is tedious to get through!
Can we have some positives now ?
I am happy with the update and am sure that outstanding issues will be dealt with very soon !

ps... I also believe in Santa and fairies at the bottom of my garden

One thing I have noticed that has changed (not sure if i have seen it mentioned)

The passlock entry when using an exchange server, I am forced to have an 8 digit code to unlock my phone

previous version it had the normal looking keyboard for entry, was a bit fidly entering the numbers from just the line (numbers at top of keyboard)

with 2.2 I now see the phone pad to enter the code, bigger buttons make it easier, think this is the way the normal 4 digit code works

Not sure how it would work if I had characters in the passcode, I am sure this was possible before but could be wrong
