Actually, you don't have to manually backup anything. Just sync your iPhone with iTunes, let it do all the work. Restore iPhone. QuickPwn/Pwn. Sync back all your stuffs. All your message, recent calls, every settings will be there.

You only need to manually backup your "jailbreak" data, like, videos you've recorded with Cycoder etc.

Yea... I'm not a big fan of combinig official restoring with unofficial firwmares. On 2.1 it ended up being even more unresponsive that it's supposed to be... I like wiping it clean and doing it manually.

I dunno if this is a bug or not but I was browsing the net in work last night when my 3G connection dropped and reverted to gprs for about a minute, then came back. But when it came back I got, what looks like, an extra carrier logo on my home screen.

It stayed there until I restarted the phone this afternoon.

Controlling street view by turning around only works on the Android based G-1 phone, which has a compass chip built-in.

He's talking about a video that leaked a while ago where when you turned the iPhone sideways it activated streetview. I thought we decided that video was a fake....

HTML mail

Does the improved HTML email make a big difference anyone? Whenever I got corporate email with a security notification at the bottom, mail used to just make it one horizontal line.

Can someone who has seen the same thing check this? It gets a tad annoying to scroll across and back just to read 3 lines of text.

I am seeing a huge problem instead of improvement in HTML email formatting. HTML mail that used to look fine (ones I created and others including MBUSA.com) are having alignment of table cell problems and text wrapping problems. Anyone else experience this?:

What emoji?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the emoji are for Japanese customers only? That kinda sucks. It's not a huge deal, but maybe I wanna send my fiancée a few cute emoticons in messages, once in a while.

What's the MMS app? Or is this jailbroken...

I applaud Apple for giving me the ability to turn the dreadful auto correction feature off. I also appreciate the overall stability and security enhancements (although, to be honest, I would never click on a link inside a spam sms anyway, but never mind). Street view and emojis don't really knock my socks off, but that's based on my personal use cases, others might fancy that stuff.

Unfortunately, the issues that annoy me most have not been addressed. Mail (using imap) still does not look for new mail inside subfolders (which it did prior to 2.1). Not to mention the lack of copy and paste or the ability to send contacts.

I can't open any applications since 2.2 came out. It loads up then crashes. Seems buggy to me.

Huh? Could tell us what appication that you referred to? Official? Cracked? Jailbroken? I have not encountered this problem after updating to 2.2. Overall performance has improved significantly

BS!
You can download all apps that you've paid for again for free.

You can just simply redownload all the apps again. It's free. Same thing for your music. Ouh, BTW the deleted apps are probably still in your trash. Just drag them back into the iTunes.

actually you can't just download music you've bought more than once, but you can with apps. You can't download movies more than once either.

NetShare still works!!

Yep. I decided to try it out again with the software update and I'm posting this via Netshare. I was concerned they were going to kill it this time around with the rumblings that a tether plan is around the corner. The front-page note was that one person had tried it. I wanted to be sure.

I'm not reading over a thousand comments so if this was said before, than +1 to them.

2.2 feels a lot like 1.1.4 and makes me very happy, so far. Everything just runs smoothly like it's not the first try anymore. When 2.0 came out, we all know it was full of problems like a new first rev. but now it's like they got it down again.

Bring on Push Notifications, MMS and Copy/Paste and all will be well among the iPhone community.

NO MORE AUTO SPELL CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! about god damn time!! damn apple and their arrogance. and no problems off the bat. it was well worth the wait.

No bring on speak to text and voice dailing. and we are SET for this phone IMO.
