When updating an application, it now keeps the application IN THE SAME SPOT. It does NOT appear in the first available spot and then move. After you install the update, the iPhone goes to the homescreen, and will jump to whatever screen the app is on showing you it's updating.

The annoying bug where you hit the install button, and it goes back to free is now fixed.

man jailbreak is great. u get backgrounder which is really really nice trust me, u get video recorder u can block the sms preview pop-up when ur in the menu (which is unacceptable!!!) games etc.. i mean come on.. apple can do that stuff but for some reason they decide to give us ''update all'' option in appstore and street view.. which of course are nice but not what we need! but u can do really many other things with a jailbroken iphone.

backgrounder?

video recording - i do not need

blocking sms popup - do not need. i hold no secrets. and my phone is always in my own hands.

honestly, still nothing interests me in jailbraking other than tethering (which I have NetShare if i REALLY need it.) But the great thing about living in my area - Tampa Bay is free wifi everywhere. and even tethering, i can careless about.

I don't think that this has already been mentioned, but you can now take a screenshot of the "slide to unlock screen."

It's small, but noteworthy.

By backgrounder I think he means background notifications on a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch.

I noticed this earlier; thank god it's been implemented. Taking photographs of the lock screen for my previous thread (2.1) was a tiresome.

Not sure why he continues to respond =).

Like we already said, "we" like to own our phones, we don't really care if you do.

We're just warning those who wish to unlock their phone in the near future, do not upgrade at this moment.

ahhh, ok.

ehh, push notifications needs to come, and background apps can be nice, but if you have too much running in the background, your phone will just be too laggy. at least thats what i think.

but i will give one point for jailbreak. still not convinced though.

I'd assume "he" continues to respond because "he" realizes this is a forum, which is made up of dialog and responses...

backgrounder is an app that lets u let an app run even if u exit it which is really nice with im cus u dont have to connect every time and also with some games that dont save etc. and yes apple should give us the option to hide the sms preview! i mean what does ''u have something to hide'' mean. i dont want anyone to see any sms if he/she plays with the iphone. and apple gives u the option to hide it but only in the lock screen why cant we have a ''new text message'' popup also in the menu? also for me only since im from greece jailbreak lets me install a greek language keyboard since apple doesnt support it.. isnt it very nasty?

That is not new that has been there since at least the last update. Sorry;)

I knew someone was going to say this. So i tried making it as clear as i can get.

I had open spots on my home screen in 2.1. When i would install a update, the application would install on my home screen, THEN move to the right spot once it was done installing.

NOW, after i hit the install button and type my password, it moves instantly to where it was at, and updates in the same spot, the application never moves.

Edit: Do you understand now?

Notice the "Add to Bookmarks" button.... I think this can work great BUT

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Where does it save? How do you access the bookmarked items ?

When you are in the search bar and there is nothing entered you will see a blue book icon, it is in there.

LOL, me too. He/she quickly edited their post though. ;)

Screen shots now show up in iPhoto!

See the dotted outlined boxes. That's what a screen shot used to look like before importing them into iPhoto.

Now they show a thumbnail of what the screen shot actually looks like!

iPod touch - Old Maps, iPhoto improvement

On an original iPod touch, Maps looks the same as it did with 2.1. Street View obviously isn't included, but neither are things like choice of transportation, address in dropped pins, or location sharing.

Not sure if this is how it was for anyone else, but after the iPod (with 2.1) was connected to the Mac and iPhoto launched, the import screen (for iPod screenshots) didn't show any thumbnails. Now they are there, though blurry.

Also (and this easily could've been changed a while ago, so excuse me if I'm behind), you can preview up to five lines in Mail.

Looks like you win!

My unlock screen still displays the AM/PM indicator.

Just tried it myself. Opened an album while connected to WiFi, left and entered Settings, turned WiFi off and returned back to iTunes Store. It loaded! The clip is taking forever to start streaming though - probably because I'm connected to GRPS.
Edit: Finally, after picking up 3G the clip started to play. Pretty signifigant bug.

get rid of it then try it again. the am/pm thing

Sorry if it's been said before, but when reading one page in the thread, another is created... etc.

When updating apps the apps icon it's self shows the progress, and no other icon is created. I'm sure it wasn't in 2.1.

Ugh - come on Apple, iPhone users are not children!

I really hate Apple's condescending attitude towards software updates! How many releases do we have to wait before getting these extremely simple features?

  1. Landscape keyboard in SMS/Email
  2. Do not pop up SMS messages
  3. Show the fast forward/rewind slider in iPod without having to tap the screen
  4. Wallpaper shows on home screen
  5. Eliminate the aggravating 1-2 second delay when launching any app
  6. Change it so that pressing a link in Safari does not make the screen unresponsive to further link presses prior to the new page loading
  7. Speed up the "Back" button in Safari (why is this not instantaneous?? caching has been around for decades!)
  8. Fix the extremely annoying "runaway Backspace key" bug which will erase an entire email if you're not careful
  9. Add a mechanism to SCROLL on long web pages without swiping 300000 times

Anyone have anything else to add?

Thanks! It's actually a recent promotional for her current single.

Haven't you seen her lately? She looks great; and I don't mean by airbrushing.

Hi Justin, thanks for a great thread and please do tell us where to get Britney for our own iPhone! :p :D

Never mind, I just saw your post with the link. :)

new feature in MobileME email account

I have a MobileME email account with Apple and there is a new option in the MobileME menu. When you go into the MobileME applications the options are:

Inbox
Drafts
Sent
Trash
Apple Mail To Do (this is new and I believe wasn't there before the update)
Junk (email address is shown)

Am I wrong? I think this is new but I have no idea what it is for.

Anyone know?
