hidden delete feature in VIDEOS menu

When I go into my Videos and I swipe my finger from the right side of the screen to the middle of the screen, a DELETE icon pops out from the right. You cannot see it there unless you swipe your finger across the screen. It is hidden. If you TAP then you just start the movie or video but if you swipe from right to the center then you bring the DELETE button up. Swiping from the center to the right (reverse) will hide the DELETE button again.

This is new, anyone else agree?

Obviously you have no idea about the process of new firmware update and the subsequent release of pwnage, which allows jailbreak.

When rest of us are enjoying the software unlock capability, we'll see who's the one laughing.

I've owned both the 1st and 2nd iPhones and jailbroke them both. I got tired of waiting for the dev team to play catch up with every firmware update.

after i updated to 2.2 i went to walking and got directions and it says "walking directions (beta) use caution. anyone else see this??

I found out today when I was updating applications, they don't create another icon. They just go to their respective pages and update there. Nice touch.

No, it's not new. I remember having it on 2.1, and seeing it on my cousins iPod Touch with 1.1.3, or earlier...

I know; it's good! :D

Now all we need is compatibility for mobileme on iphones to send emails using the carrier's networks! I can send using gmail, but the outgoing server of mobileme can't work on my carrier, I am with optus, grr!!

I really hate Apple's condescending attitude towards software updates! How many releases do we have to wait before getting these extremely simple features?

  1. Landscape keyboard in SMS/Email
  2. Do not pop up SMS messages
  3. Show the fast forward/rewind slider in iPod without having to tap the screen
  4. Wallpaper shows on home screen
  5. Eliminate the aggravating 1-2 second delay when launching any app
  6. Change it so that pressing a link in Safari does not make the screen unresponsive to further link presses prior to the new page loading
  7. Speed up the "Back" button in Safari (why is this not instantaneous?? caching has been around for decades!)
  8. Fix the extremely annoying "runaway Backspace key" bug which will erase an entire email if you're not careful

Anyone have anything else to add?

Yea, how about:
1. "Call this Contact" in SMS window option or "Text this Contact" in call screen? Could be as simple as clicking on the contact's phone number.
2. Cut and paste.
3. Double-click link option in Safari to avoid huge amounts of wasted time navigating away from accidentally clicked links.

That's all I can think of right now at 4a in Paris. :D

That was there since I got the original iPhone in March.

I have a MobileME email account with Apple and there is a new option in the MobileME menu. When you go into the MobileME applications the options are:

Inbox
Drafts
Sent
Trash
Apple Mail To Do (this is new and I believe wasn't there before the update)
Junk (email address is shown)

Am I wrong? I think this is new but I have no idea what it is for.

Anyone know?

Nah, I've always seen it.

[snip]
Notice the "Add to Bookmarks" button.... I think this can work great BUT
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
Where does it save? How do you access the bookmarked items ?

2.0 Firmware had bookmarks for map locations. I know because I used it extensively when I was on vacation right after the 3G iPhone first came out. When you're in maps, click on "search" at the bottom if it is not already in "search" mode. Then on the top, when nothing is typed into the search bar, you will see an image that looks like a book. Click on that icon. "Bookmarks" appears. :)

NEW:
Safari
"Tabbed" web pages are now truly limited to eight. Previously, you could have more than eight open, because you could open more from webclips on your homescreen, and the number of "tabs" would not be displayed whenever there were more than eight. Now when you have eight open and try to open a ninth from a webclip, it replaces the first (leftmost). Try another one and it will replace the second, etc. More importantly, however, the eight you do have are real, in that they stay cashed in memory, so you can jump around the eight "tabs" without seeing the blank white pages from no-longer-cashed sights. This is, IMHO, exactly as it should be (and why would anyone need more than 8 web pages open on their phone?).

MAYBE NEW:
Apps
This may or may not be new, but when you go to read an app's comments in the add store, at the top there is a button to write your own review. When you click it, you will also have an area to rate the app with stars, right above the text editing area. I think this is new, but I'm not sure.

I need to view ALL applications via the iPhone video out cables - it is unacceptable that the entire iPhone interface does not always show! Is there a jailbroken solution fir THIS?!

  9. Add a mechanism to SCROLL on long web pages without swiping 300000 times

Anyone have anything else to add?

Phone number format

The phone number format hasn't just changed for the UK. It is better for Australia now (It was working fine originally, but 2.1 broke it so that it wasn't putting the spaces in the correct place).

So yay for us Aussies.

Bug fix in ipod touch 2nd generation

In firmware version 2.1 of ipod touch 2nd gen, when listening to music (via headphones) while using certain applications there used to be a crackling sound or noise that was added. It was very annoying as one could not listen to music while using those applications. This has been corrected in version 2.2. As far as I can tell there is no noise that gets added while using any application now.

Here is a apple discussions thread on the issue -

Don't know if anyone already mentioned this but the ordering of podcasts in the iPod app has changed (when viewing multiple episode of the same podcast). The oldest are now at the top and the most recent at the bottom of the list. Now they'll play through in order, rather then the reverse order they did previously.

I like that, it took me a while to figure it out on hulu too
