Although, he was almost 100% correct on predicting iTunes 8.

Yes, he was almost 100 % correct when predicted iTunes 8 was going to be "a big update with new features."

Let me envision here for a minute. Yes... yes I see it! The future holds new versions of iTunes! iTunes 9 and iTunes 10. Both will be released in the coming years, iTunes 9 perhaps even this year. Both will be big updates with new features. iTunes 10 may be rebranded as iTunes X but that part is too hazy to see for sure. But new features definitely will be there. You read it here first!

End of futuregram.

The irony is this story links to a page with flash that the iPhone can't play. Most smart phones can. Google the REAL reason there is no flash and you'll get dozens of hits saying Apple fears Adobe Apps vs Apples App store.

So it is true! Dozens of anonymous people agree!

Kevin Rose, I remember when he said that iPhone 3G would have video conferencing and even went into detail about this new iSight on the front the panel! I'm just going to leave at that!

If you listen to what "his source" mentioned, was that the new iPhone is up to par to what the Palm Pre has to offer. If it's true, then I see not only Pre take a death grip on the iPhone but other phone makers in the near future(two months after iPhone is offically release. Hardware wise, iPhone is better...for Now!

OS wise, Apple has to pull out a rabbit from you know what this Tuesday and I'm not talking about a HAT.
As others have clearly mentioned the lack of features that all of us wanted from the very first iPhone is a sad affair. Only copyandpaste, I'm speechless.

I think ultimately Apple has the advantage if only they can tap into there main OS Leopard and not a "light version of it" and stop with the soap nazi approuch with developers. I forget that dude who promotes the Pre.. the guy with the long hair and said with bold statement that iPhone people will leave it to adopt the Pre (He Knows something that must be true) plus they have Rubinstein the father of the iPod who knows Apple's strengths and weakness.

My wish would be this, more integration of purchased app into the main native Apple apps like what real computers do! For example apple's camera. If I want to up grade it with Pano, Air Photo or The Snapper or all three in the same time. Not have ten different photo apps! This goes for other native apps as well.

If not...I'm not sure I want to a take bite of this :apple: this summer!

He called the genius feature, which most people didn't believe, and mocked up a screenshot of grid view, which was spot on.

Seems to me there's a real potential for a liability case there. We HAVE to use bluetooth while driving and the most advanced phone around has to have a number of steps that make you have to take your eyes off of the road for a call?...... crazy!

Actually you don't have to you use it in the car, period. Law enforcement would prefer you didn't.

I say, if you are incapable of doing two things as once, such as driving + operating your phone, you shouldn't even be driving in the first place. You're already a hazard, given the inevitability of a distraction which you can't handle safely.

what he knows is that someone like you would remember it and eventually repeat it, as you have.

I agree with most of you. Copy and paste is nice but hardly worth all the excitement.

Here's what I would be excited about:

Push notifications (obviously)

Ability to switch between apps like apple+tab does in osx. I see no reason why the iphone can't do with 512mb of ram what the palm pre does with 256mbs of ram.

:confused::confused::confused:

is that a joke or a misunderstanding?

There is no 512 mb of ram on board the iPhone. LOL That'd be nice.....

try 128

I am having trouble figuring out if you are being sarcastic or stupid.

Always assume I'm being sarcastic. You'll be right 90% of the time.

Seriously, If it's finally happening I'll be glad, but if I were apple I'd be so embarrassed over not having this before I'd try and sneak it out rather than announce it as a feature in its own right.

Don't kill the messager!

I'm a man of my word. Meaning my circle is comprised with people with the same mind set.

If I makes a mistake, I man up to it. Kevin Rose doesn't have either one of those track records. I don't get caught up with old wives tales.

I'm a lover of tech devises but clearly not a Apple fanatic fanboii

er how come you guys sound like the iphone 3.0 is compatible with current users? i though we have to answer this question first b4 we even talk bout new features?

i mean, everyone here sounds like they are ready to grab the new iphone if the old ones arent compatible with the upgrade.

Some of us never upgraded to the 3G iPhone. So we are pretty excited to see what is going to come out of Cupertino.

Google the REAL reason there is no flash and you'll get dozens of hits saying Apple fears Adobe Apps vs Apples App store. Good thing that millions of contracts about to expire with phones like the Pre on the horizen. Forces Apple out of their corner. Good. Serves them right. The iPhone will be all that much better.

Not having copy, paste, mms, video ( all about the App store folks) is a sham.

Very true. Competition is EXCELLENT! Too bad Apple doesn't have true competition across the board! But we all have to admit that Apple has only been in the phone business for 2 years. But this is really an OS with phone technologies built in. Features like cut & paste should have been included from the beginning. MMS isn't all it's cracked up to be in my opinion but it should be there. A lot of people love MMS. Problem for me is I get a text message, have to go to a website and then cannot click on URL and then cannot copy and paste the password to get the multimedia message. When I get one, now, I wait until I have my Mac in front of me - that may be just the way it is but seems like a joke. And video, my friend has a tiny worthless $50 flip phone which does VIDEO! Apparently Apple isn't too interested in "entertainment" unless it can sell it for $.99 a pop on iTunes!

I am an Apple fanboy, and while we mostly will not admit this doesn't mean we are not MOSTLY fanboys. It's sad in my opinion that these features aren't standard, but I overlook it because the iPhone just goes with my Mac and plays my iTunes media. Apple has a lot of us addicted, some of us just choose not to admit it to ourselves even. Here is plus one to coming out of the fanboy closet, thank God for Apple, that it is one hell of a crowded closet!

I think a lot of Apple iPhone users are going to keep getting new reasons to want to stay. Let's hope the real news is that ALL of the features that should be there are there on this release. Let's also hope that finally wireless tethering is a low cost reason to switch and not a higher cost from AT&T than all of the other smartphones provide. Heck how about $15 per month since we are already paying a small fortune to use these!

Hopefully Tuesday's announcements MR poll gets as many positives as this thread! Go Apple!

It's iPhone OS 3.0 not iPhone 3.0, there is a big distinction there. They will be demoing new software not hardware. Also for what it's worth I find it hard to believe that after being locked into 2 year contracts by Apple they would stop updating the phone's software. The current gen iPhones will be able to run the new software until the vast majority of contracts expire.

Well we will all see on Tuesday!

My wife might jump on the Pre.

If I don't upgrade, I might wait tell 4g rolls out.

My current contract on Tmobile with a TyTN 2 runs out about may this year.

Unless Apple manage to completely screw the pooch, I will be buying an iPhone this year.

They have to get us iPhone 1,1 owners to upgrade somehow... The 1,2 owners will probably be spared until next year.

Wouldn't it be nice for the next iPhone to have 512MB - 1GB of RAM?

Very nice. If it did then we could run background tasks. I'm getting really sick of the people that want to run background tasks on their 1st gen iPhones. Talk about clueless.

Fact is that for any major leap in software, the hardware needs to be upgraded. This is a computer, and a very low powered one at that. That will not last very long. Fortunately, the days remaining that the 1st iPhone will support the current software are shrinking fast.

Thats good, because that means a newer and better top end. That's what counts. Not purchases 2 years ago. Contract or not that's AT&T's problem. Your first gen iPhone is a great product even if you've never updated it from day one.

There are a lot of people hating on Kevin Rose. For what I don't understand. His track record predicting rumors is hit and miss but when he's right, boy is he right. So its clear that he does have credible sources. What he may not do is always filter the info for the most logical of rumors. But then again, his source could be 100% right about future products and Apple for some reason decided to pull the plug at the last minute. This seems unlikely for hardware but very possible for software, seeing as how we've seen features removed from software updates for no apparent reason. Regardless of what you think about Rose, he at least has the balls to put his name on something. Obviously he can't give his source but I believe he gets much better info than those Wall Street analysts that drive AAPL up and down. As contradictory as this sounds, copy & paste is not an obvious release for the iPhone, but I believe its obvious that we will get it with the 3.0 firmware. Personally, I haven't missed it, but I know people that desperately want it and who will switch to an iPhone with any implementation of it. If we do get copy & paste, I just think it opens the door for a mobile version of iWork. You gotta think this update in the software is going to be big if their jumping from 2.x or 2.2.x to 3.0. MMS...eh, I haven't missed it but it would be nice to have for the few people I communicate with who don't have smartphones and email to send images to. Video recording...eh, don't think I would use it. But that's just me. I really hope they got their Push Notification Service working but I really doubt it. I hate the idea of background apps but I certainly understand the need for it. How about some wireless iTunes syncing and/or streaming. Or syncing of notes. iChat. System-wide search. How about the Find function in Safari. Landscape keyboard. The ability to organize apps into folders or a Stacks method. Even a little customization of the background. There has to be a lot in version 3.0 if the claim of erasing any advantage of Palm's Pre are to be true. But Tuesday is only tomorrow.
