Even though I have work at 8.30AM I'm really tempted to stay up until 2/3AM just to see what's happening with it...curse living on the other side of the world...

i wish i was there with my iphone!

then i could take pictures and send them via MMS to my frie.......wait, no... i can't do that.

well, then i would take video of the show and then........wait....i can't do that either.

well, at least i can receive the twitter updates on my phone due to push notific..........wait...i can't do that either.

What about a spoiler-free link to the keynote when it's posted @ apple.com?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

Looking foward to getting the disapointment out of the way.

man! i always loved working late the night before an Apple event.

that way i could wake up and only have to wait an hour or two for the event to be underway!

As always, I'll be here in front of my work computer checking in and watching everything happen. I'm really looking forward to this event and hope I can stand to wait another few months for 3.0 to be released.

I hope that cut/copy/paste, MMS, and data tethering are NOT the highlights of a major software update. I mean this is a next level update. Introducing 2 features that should have been included from the start does not constitute an apple event previewing them. There has to be something more to it. Let's see some improvements to notifications, the UI (springboard), keyboard enhancements, and more customization. Things like cut/paste, MMS should take a back seat to other features being debuted at event like this and for a software update of this magnitude. If Apple wants to prove that they're moving in the right direction without Jobs in the drivers seat they could wow some people by having features like those play second fiddle to some stunning new features.

Also if there's one thing I WISH apple would do is give me the option to NOT have my text messages displayed for whoever (my girlfriend) is around to see , I don't want to have to put a passcode lock on my phone to have the contents of text messages hidden. Give me a break.

Again don't get me wrong, I'm PUMPED to finally (hopefully) get those features of cut/paste/copy and MMS. But I think you all get where I'm going with that.

Copy and Paste would be great to have but, MMS would be life changing. This whole having to log onto a website that half of the time wont work from my phone **** is crazy and needs to end. This is a increasingly more text based communication world we are in now and I am still shocked that apple is failing to keep up with it.
Well not life changing but I do agree. The website thing works about 0% of the time for me.

Seems like this event is also trying to quell the rumblings that the iPhone is falling behind offerings from other companies. The Palm Pre (while it is still far away, and given Palm's track record I'm not holding my breath) looks rather impressive.

I know a high profile manager in Telecom Italia (one of the Italy carriers that offers the iPhone) that said the MMS are present.
Since MMS are highly requested here in Italy I trust that source.

Bring it on. It had better be good. Just the things we want plus one or two that will blow us away.

Make it stable. Make it snappy and I think that we can all live with that.

No?

Why is MMS so popular in Italy? I have never understood why? I know it's true, but I don't get it.

You know what is pretty impressive? Apple has again maintained secrecy for the upcoming OS...for it to be a couple hours before the event and all we know is copy and paste, maybe MMS and maybe tethering (which was rumored a while back) is pretty good on their part. Can't wait for the surprises they have in store, because everyone knows there is going to be a lot more than that..GUI overhaul?

Does anyone know what time this thing will kick off? I suspect that it will be the usual time but I'm just wondering.

How would it be life changing? I'd be shocked if Apple supported this out dated technology.

Same. Never liked MMS personally. Too expensive and unnecessary. Even more so now that email is available on phones. Why MMS somebody when I could email them for free? And they can get my email on a computer, phone or whatever. I rarely need people to check out a photo right that instant, so next time they check their email is fine for me.

If I do need them to check out a photo, I call/text them and ask them to check their email ASAP. Simple.

Still, for 3.0 I'm expecting a substantial upgrade. Not just copy and paste, but a tweaked UI all-around, including a better lock and home screen and touched-up interface elements in other parts. I'm also expecting some technology improvements (more useful bluetooth stack), and some clarification on AppStore policies.
