I don't know if anyone of you have noticed, but the 3GS carries the same baseband version as on the 3G(04.26.08). Having in mind that the iphone dev team has it unlocked this is more than great news.

If i am not mistaken, that doesn't mean anything. It all depends on the new hardware that iPhone 3GS ships with and whether it is open to the exploit that the dev team found. Hacking the 3.0 OS is one thing, and getting passed the hardware is another thing.

I might be mistaken but thats what I think.

I am wondering who is selling them unlocked or if buying a locked one can be unlocked by reinstalling the software again ??

It almost seems random who is getting their phones shipped.

I ordered on the 10th, and it still says prepared for shipment. No tracking number yet.

It doesnt even seem they are doing it by location, because in the forums there are people on the east coast whose phones have and have not shipped, and people on the west coast whose phones have and have not shipped.

"The olephobic screen of the new iPhone is noticeable"

What the heck does that mean? "noticeable" ??? (tad worried)

You might be more than right, I am making my conclusions out of the fact that when the 3g was first released last year it carried a completely different baseband version(correct me if I am wrong) than the 2g.

If the 3G is anything to go by, once they are factory unlocked they cannot be locked. I am not sure of others, but Vodafone NZ does not currently lock their phones....

They might do what they did with the Harry Potter Books and hang onto them at the Distribution Center until the allowed to deliver date!
:(

I wish it would just say something other then in progress I have checked about 5 time already today lol

I think it just means you can tell a difference in how oils do or do not build up on the display. Not necessarily a bad thing.

mine hasn't shipped yet :( hopefully it will soon, it'd be nice to get it early! - it's alright if it takes until Fri though as that is what I have been expecting all along

Wouldn't you expect to find an unlocked one in any of the countries that legally had to sell unlocked iPhones from the start?

**** Yeah!!!!

jeez,

why didn't he test the camera image/video or upload some. Somebody must figure that this interests people since the current camera just sucks and is far from usable for snapshots.

The speed is nice of course!

I will post a side-by-side comparison if someone can tell me where to post it and the format needed for it to qork on this forum.

I would like to see a comparison of 3G and 3Gs (some sort of speed test).

Thursday here...

Seems interesting that Houston and Louisville are getting theirs tomorrow (6/17), while out here in the land of Apple (silicon valley), I'm getting mine Thursday. I would have guessed that a layover in California would get us ours first. Guess I'm wrong.

Drat!

Am I the only one that thinks the UPS delivery dates are wrong? That they will all be delivered on the 19th but its just a bug in UPS' computers?

Anyone know if signature will be required? I have taken Friday off from work to be home when it's delivered.... now I'm not sure!

I ordered on the 9th from at&t to be shipped directly to my house.

And as of about 4 seconds ago, I'm still "In Progress."

Of course, with my luck, it will get delivered early when no one is home to sign for it.

disappointed on no upgrades for loyal followers

I'm pretty disappointed. I shell out $120+ a month for service with AT&T, but I'm not eligible for an upgrade until March 2010... otherwise, it's going to cost me $599 to get the new iPhone... I wish Apple had made it so iPhone could be used on any carrier :(

You should have known what you were getting into - you signed a contract.

Does anyone else think that "spotlight" looks "unfinished"

Ok, I am fully aware that this is nitpicking at its finest, but I'm curious to see if I am the only one out there who thinks this.

Does anyone else think that when you swipe over to the spotlight page, there should be something more visually than just a search bar, keyboard, and black background. It seems so unpolished. Why not have a blue spotlight icon fade into the background or something?

I know this is nitpicking, and I might have OCD, but it generally bothers me. Im I the only one?
